I'm not a fan of having a back 4 either because we not only lose a creative player but also the numerical advantage 3-4-2-1 gives us in midfield.
You can still rest players without changing the formation.

I'm a big fan of the diamond system we employed last season and I think going forward, we'll need to revert to a system with 2 upfront to get the best out of the likes of Coutinho, Sterling, and even Sturridge. That said, we finally seem to getting to grips with the 3 at the back system and the recent results have been decent to say the least. We also have our deep playmaker injured and I cant see anyone in the squad capable of controlling the game from a deeper position the way Gerrard did last season.

Against Palace, I'd love to see us go with both Sturridge and Balotelli upfront. I'd go with Coutinho (given Sterling's injury) ahead of Lallana for the AM role with Can and Henderson holding in midfield. With Ibe and Moreno down the flanks and a back 3 of Lovren, Skrtel and Sakho, I think this lineup is probably the strongest we can put out at the moment.

If we can get through this game we will be down to the last 8 and with the likes of City, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and Southampton already knocked out we won't be presented with many better opportunities than this to be in that final on the 30th of May.
Don't get me wrong this game will be tough (we haven't beaten Palace in any of our last 6 visits to Selhurst Park) but if we continue to play like we have been doing recently I think we should have too much for Palace.

Palace will be really up for this one. Expect a fast paced bruising encounter.

Might be the time to leave some of our more lightweight/fragile players out.

West Ham are out and Stoke looking to be another PL team falling to lower division opposition, we should make sure of this, don't think the FA cup has been so open

Joe Allen worries me in the centre of midfield tbh, hope he raises his game today
