Isn't Liverpool halfway across the world from you?

Since when did the East Coast of US become halfway across the world from UK? Take some geography classes tit.

I agree. I don't understand anybody who's not enthusiastic about this competition. It's a chance to win another trophy and keep our winning run going, and secondly, I think we failed to win it in a previous attempt, against a team which I believe was Sao Paulo as well (somebody on here will know).

In retrospect, we have more reasons to compete than not to compete if you look back at how we handled a heavy schedule this season already.

I don't think its an important competition from a footballing perspective but admittedly a good showing will do our coffers no harm and will be good for merchandising.

Part of me desperately wants to win it as we haven't won it before but I certainly wouldn't want to lose a player or two to win it and I'd be very unhappy if we came back tired and started dropping points.

As Big Mich said, it couldn't have come at a worse time but seeing that we are competing in it, we should try and win it, but I would certainly not risk Carragher, Gerrard and Alonso if they were tired or carrying a slight knock going into a match.

My own feeling is that Sao Paulo will probably win it, I can see them taking it far more seriously than us.

É de que cidade?? Vai comemorar o Tri mundial onde? Tá chegando a hora!

Atletico Paranaense avenged their Libertadores Cup final defeat to Sao Paulo by beating the same opponents 4-2 in a stormy match played in their Arena da Baixada stadium in Curitiba.the game was interupted by a teenage streaker in a gorilla mask....

Ok what was the streakers name?

LOL I remember the game...but not of this incident..I'm not very sure, but I think that our defender, Alex, received red card in this game.

are Al-Ittihad  any good?

Definitely not.
I watched the game between Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly.

Red Black and white i have to disagree with u abt Al Ittihad.. they are really good side as i watch alot of arabic leagues and i come from the middle east.

the game today was a bit boring neither side played really well.. but Al Ittihad can cause all sorts of upsets.. if u have watched the Asian Champions League Final, Al ittihad played really well and they have decent attackers and defenders.

ofcourse Liverpool will win the WWC!  :buttrock

I will always regret us never winning the Cup Winners Cup after coming so close early on so even if the World Club has been made a circus it will be great to win it . Especially if we show a bit of style.

Really? I was a bit worried about the semi-finals, but after watching this game, I was sure São Paulo and Liverpool would play the final match.

Now I'm a bit worried again  :Oo: . I still think São Paulo will win, but maybe they can prepare some surprise.

Sydney F.C. founded in 1855??  ???

I DON'T THINK SO...

Sydney F.C. was founded in 2004-5 to enter Australia's new A-League.

From a Brazilian webpage. It is not a very reliable webpage though. It's funny the capacity of Sydney's stadium. How can this club have more than 50.000 fans if it was founded 2 years ago? LOL

But to categorise football fans in Asia as "glory hunters" are just showing your ignorance.

I never said they were all gloryhunters.

But as you said, LFC and Man Utd attract large numbers of support, which is because of their successes over the decades. Success attracts support.

With LFC winning the Champions League, now was the best time to take advantage of that and go to Asia for this competition. No doubt the long established LFC fans in Asia will turn out.

Also, the gloryhunters will show up too, buying the shirts and the merchandise. Whether they stick with the club doesn't matter, but after the CL win, now is the time to take advantage of fickle fans, because as the years go by, Chelsea are definately going to do it too.

That kind of "support" isn't great, admittedly, but it is a source of revenue that LFC will exploit, and rightly so.

I agree with Manhattan with the oppurtunity to gain revenue from any asian fans - whether "glory hunter" or not. It is a huge oppurtunity to increase our finatial position. A lot of fans from asia do choose because of success - but how else would they? Real Madrid got them cos of the "Galacticos", at least we can win them over with some substance, and then once/if they do some research on our history, they will be absorbed by the culture and great past of our club.
