United are clear and Villa are level, we need this game heck we need every game it's time for the team to step up.  No more excuses and no more draws against lesser opposition.

I thought it would be easier to play wigan without heskey...and then they go and buy mido...  :D

Hopefully benitez brings back Agger for this one.....he is much better in the air compared to skertel.

And looks like Keane will most likely start this match. Maybe benitez should play keane on his strongest position (support striker) and see how it goes for him...

So gerrard to take one for the team and go to the right.

                          Reina
      Arbeloa   Carra    Agger   Auerlio
                   Mash  Alonso
      Gerrard                          Riera
                        Keane
                        Torres

Think this is the strongest team (and the most balance one too) we can put out..... If we just play this team for the remaining of our matches (injuries and suspension not with-standing)...i am sure we can take 3 points from each of them.....

Same should, could and probably was said against Everton, Fulham, West Ham, Hull, Stoke..........................

Man Utd put three points on the board against a :censored: WBA (is there any other variety?) We have a much harder task to go level with them having a game in hand. If villa catch us and overtake us then maybe the manager's position should be reviewed because that will be humiliating. They are showing how to win, win and win again, not against the big sides as someone suggested are the crunch games, but consistently picking up three points.

That's how you win titles, by grinding out three points week in, week out. You don't play the 'big four' week in, week out, so dropping points in the (often many) weeks between is tantamount to taking the pressure off when it comes to the crunch games. We don't win tonight and a draw or worse against Chelsea and I think it's goodnight Vienna, we can begin our campaign for 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

I think we would have had a better chance at winning those games if Everton had some fit strikers and played them

Absolutely. They played with 4 defenders and 6 mids. We would have alot more hope trying to score with Saha and Yak in for them, either cos theres more space for our mids a strikers, or on the counter.

I wouldn't have doen things the way they have been, but I could understand the decision. Torres is coming back from injury and the feeling might be that he can't take 2 games in four days. I've no problem with Keane starting, but I think maybe giving him a bit of encouragement over the last few weeks or even months might have been the way to go.

If we continue to play Torres repeatedly, we do run the risk of him breaking down IMHO. Hamstrings are very difficult to get totally right, and in his case a bit of rotation at the moment makes sense. Given that, the treatment of Keane becomes all the more baffling/silly.

Keane scored 3 in 2 games and that earned him sweet FA!

Just look at how after a shaky start Berbatov has now fitted into the Utd side, Fergie kept faith in his judgement to sign him and its paying off
Now look at Rafas treatment of Keane in comparison!
Im sorry to say it but as far as man management goes its boys against men  :(

Why is it always me who cops the lecture on the way Keane has been treated :D . I know mate, I've been the one going on about it, I was the one who originally made the Berbatov comparison remember.

Sorry Mick (I never read all the thread)

Its a point that many of us feel strongly about, we shouted about signing some finished article players and when we do the manager treats him like a novice breaking into the first team squad
Rafa should never sign seasoned players with an opinion if he cant handle them!

I'm very very nervous about this game, for me it's got draw written all over it :sniffle
I would love to see a convincing riposte to Manure's destruction of West Brom but I just can't see it happening at the moment, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

Its clearly a must win game. But I personally think too much damage has already been done to our title challenge this season. Those missed opportunities early on in the season are becoming significant. Its a shame but at least this season we have made an effort and not thrown it away by November.
