Im hoping for our best 11 but I doubt it!
I was just looking at our fixture list today over the next two months and its basically two games a week in most cases for ages.We really could have done without playing the bitters again next week ffs!
Theres absolutely no way we are gonna see a settled team now.I expect Rafa to make a few changes for Wigan..(we will probably see Lucas, nooooo) and our strongest on Sunday and next week at Goodison maybe?Who knows!
Loads of massive matches coming up,not good for the squad probably but plenty of matches for us to watch!
:D

yeah me too, wouldnt suprise me at all if Lucas and Benayoun get a game. Id say there will be at least 4 changes, but were not exactly gonna be rotating a bunch of form players at the moment

What? Like we have them for 4-5-1?

The only winger we have is Riera and he seems to be able to handle either formation. Kuyt is awful, no matter what.

Whatever formation Rafa choses, can he watch the last few games  and sort out the problems with the midfields lack of attack/support for the striker(s)?

Otherwise...it's 0-0, 1-1 in this game again.

Wigan's been tricky before and I see no reason to believe they won't be this time. A win here though will be feckin great.

I think we will stick with the 4-2-3-1 for this match. We got absolutely pasted in midfield in the first game at Anfield and were very lucky to go on and win it. I don't think we can afford to take Wigan lightly, but I expect if we play a sensible team and formation with just a few changes we will win.

                        Reina

Arbeloa       Carra    Agger      Aurelio

                Masch   Alonso

Kuyt               Gerrard            Riera

                      Torres

I would even accept Lucas as one of the holding players, as long as Torres is fit to play. If we have to play Kuyt, Babel or Keane up front I can see it being a very difficult game, with us totally reliant on Gerrard to break the deadlock.

I hope that Mascherano does some decent movement in that position.   Because if he doesn't get involved in our attack, then we're going to have a lot of problems.

Babel      Alonso    gerrard   Riera

                  Torres

Just ya bog standard 4-1-4-1 formation

But its that little more attacking then 4-2-3-1 and you still pack the midfield and hold natural width.

Well we really arriving at the crunch stage now. I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever that Man Utd will beat West Brom the day before we play, so we're going to be four points behind in all probability at the kick off. Needless to say I think there has been some chronically bad manegerial decisions over the last few weeks, but we've reached the point where we can't afford any more. Needless to say I hope the team selection is bordering on the boring, and that we can find something from somewhere.

There are a number of things with the team which we are simply going to have to cross our fingers and hope they put themselves right. That seems odd for a manager who has at his heart "options" and "possibilities", but such has been our confusion recently that we haven't got any more of those than we have slack, we've just got to hope for the best I suppose.

We have to hope that Torres firstly doesn't get injured and that secondly he starts to score goals. We have absolutely no alternative whatsoever to him playing in every single league match for the forseeable from what I can see. I suppose we could just bung Keane or Babel up top and hope they remember how to play as a striker/regain their confidence/gel with the rest of the team instantly, but if it does work it certainly wouldn't be as a result of any great forward thinking.

My feeling is that it probably wouldn't work in any case. Keane I'm sure is a good player who would find his feet again at some point, but I'm equally sure that Man Utd would be mere specks in the distance by then.

At right midfield, as long as we continue to play 4-5-1 we haven't got too much of a problem as Kuyt will continue to move his stuff out there (strut just seemed inappropriate). If he gets injured we are like as not staring down the gun-barrel at Yossi Benayoun, which wouldn't be a pleasant experience for either him or us I shouldn't think.

Out on the left, we must cross our fingers and hope that Riera stays fit. Fit enough to influence games for the first hour or so anyway, after that we can bring Babel on I guess.

Defensively we should be OK, as long as nobody crosses it by all accounts (staggering stat that was).

If we want to actually create any chances or score any goals, we'd all better hope that Steven Gerrard stays fit as well.

There's going to be plenty of finger crossing for the next couple of matches, and hopefully beyond if we can actually win a game.

Interesting selection choice leggy its an attacking formation and i could see macha doing a great job. Thing is if that formation was ever played i would want alonso to attack more and take more shots at goal. Would want him to push up like gerrard.

Anywayz like you said i could never see rafa playing that formation. Would he ever take off dirky boy and put on babel there??? No chance.!!!!!!!!

The subject of Torres is a tough one because even if he is a little tired and he plays the Wigan match then he will be really knackered for the Chelsea game this weekend which, in my opinion, is the big one.

I really think we should give Keane a go upfront. After all the media surrounding him and his possible departure he may have something to prove?

True but imo every game is the big one from now to end of season I doubt torres will be tierd due to A. he is young 2. he ain't played that much and he can handle it.

Plus we bloody need him as we only have gerrard atm who is scoring.

Also this game might be just what torres needs to get back into scoring form , if we don't play him and he has a shocker in chav game maybe we all be thinking wish he had another game to get that rustyness out of him.

a mixture of saints and barnes team

- Would like to see agger back as he compliments carra more than skertel

-Babel for kuyt..... don't really rate kuyt so this change is quite the norm for me ... :p. Just think we need more pace throughout the team. We have torres (thank god)...but if we have a few more players with pace, it would be easier to stretch the opposition when they do park the bus. So babel ahead of Kuyt.

- Hope alonso leaves the defensive work to mascherano and joins Gerrard in attack.

You wouldn't start dos after the game he had on sunday I felt he was a massive improvement on the left in our general play ?

Also you stick with 2 holding ? I personaly would just say to alonso get up there and work off gerrards runs.
