Where will the goals come from? - I don't rate our strikers

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

to be honest i don't care where the goals come from as long as we're playing well and winning games. last season, we scored a huge number of goals from midfield and i feel it will be a pretty similar story this season.

chelsea's success was built around goals coming from everywhere. they had nobody who was prolific. however they must have had 6 players who all got into double figures and hell even john terry scored 8 from centre half.

Last nights performace was a disgrace this is the so called squad players we were short of, what you dont see on the telly is how lazy Morro and cisse really are, they need to watch a Ian Rush Video to see what working without the ball is, at one ponit Zenden got to the Byline looked across the area and Moro and Cisse jogging yes jogging into the box this is 2nd game of the season so the old line of tierdness is not a excuse, i really hope letting Michael go to the barcodes doesnt come back to haunt us, because if were struggling for goals mid season you can imagine the amount of calls about not signing him will be massive.

It brinds to mind when we got beat to AK Gratz last season 0-1 and went on and lifted the trohpy.

Normally I'd have a massive rant about the 20 quid I wasted last night and how bad we are, but it's still only August.

One thing that does strike me about the way we play, is how FLAT and clueless we look without Stevie G or Alonso to come up with some ideas. No surging forward, no cutting the opposition defense apart. no vision!

I refer to my other post- Why dont we play with fluency!

chelsea for example- Robben, Duff, LAmpard, makalele.
Arsenal- Ljunberg, Pires, Henry, Van persie.
man Utd- Rooney, Van Nistlerooy, Keane, Scholes.

They can all conjour up something out of nothing.
we area long way behind.

I was disapointed with Rafa's new signings this summer. But i didnt think they would be that bad!

peter crouch awaiting his return- doesnt exactly inspire confidence amongst the fans! Hooray!

I wouldnt worry too much about the current strikers, if things dont change, changes will be made im sure. But by this time we could be out of the EPL and CL.

If we play like that in the group phase we can kiss our title goodbye!

You must have been watching a different game to me mate.

Cisse was a lazy sh.ite last night, he did virtually no tackling back and kept throwing his arms in the air when he either lost the ball or a decision went against him.  He needs to seriously up his work rate.  Even compare him with Morientes or Baros before he went, both of them do a lot more work than Cisse.

I also thought there was very little sign of any understanding between Cisse and Baros last night.  I'm not ready to write either off just yet as it's early days but they both need to up their game

this is the kind of thing that infuriates me about luis, sometimes the flicks come off but all too often they result in us giving up posession, there is alot to love about LG but far too much to get :censored: off with

Must agree with you I can only recall 3 moments in the whole game when we actually saw a bit of flair and creativity.

1) Liverpool throw in which Morientes backed healed for Risse to shoot wide.

2) Sissoko beating a player and actually showing pace to drive into the box to shoot agnaist the bar.

3) Morientes after a bit of fortune showing skill and composure to go around the keeper but still not score.

For all of Risse hard work and running he is not a skillfull player and does not have the ability frighten top Right backs so therefore will not create much even though he may score a few himself.

Zenden well to be honest I dont really rate him cant see him being more of a squad player we will need someone with more quality then him if we want to challenge the top 3. Step up Harry Kewell  :help

I will not go into the RM positon as there is not a player worth talking about who currently plays in this position simple we need a RM.

Sissoko and Haman- Simply are not creative players I dont think they should play together in a 4-4-2 as they neither offer anything in attack although I do think Sissoko can develop this part of his game but at present its not good enough.

One final point is why do our full backs not try to get beyond are wingers ( I use the term loosely). Finnan and Warnock are both able to put a decent ball in.

Some of you lot need to realise that this lack of goals have come from only a couple of games(Mid,sofia). I agree, Morientes was terrible in the sofia game and cisse lacked that finishing touch, but sometimes rather than jumpin on their backs, show a little faith. Look at forlan at Villareal.

THESE 2 STRIKERS (CISSE, MORIENTES) are PROVEN goalscorers. Give them time and they will adapt and pick up were they left off.
keep the faith

Cisse says the speculaton on him has affected him, FFS, so far we've had new club, back from injury, speculation - what next?

If he scores a few goals there won't be speculation of offloading him.
