Unless we are going to play a 4-1-3-2 then we should consider maybe picking up a RM who can create and score goals and another attacking minded midfielder like Simari.

Maybe another striker - but not necessarily to partner Torres. Someone who can replace Torres in the 4-2-3-1 and still get the results.

Try finding a quality striker who doesnt mind being rotated !

Talking of which

i think toni would be class up front with torres but we have to get some good wingers. thats what we've lacked this season. kewell and pennant are not good enough, kuyt is not a winger. babel might be a good winger if he was played on the right but he's a striker. downing or bentley (or both) is the type of player i think wwe should try to bring in for next season
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

David Bentley (Alan Hansen agrees with me) should be brought in as support/wing striker.

Edit.
          Mascha Barry

Bentley   Gerrard    Babel

             Torres

Yes please.

eeeeeeeerrrrrr   :alien:

younger benefits =

younger legs
quicker / faster
speed of foot
not stagnant in thought process
doesnt tire as easily can last longer in a game
able to get more years / games out of him than an older player

look at owen now compared to when he was with us.... young vs old legs no comparison

taller benefits =

able to hold his own in the box among tall defenders
greater capacity to get high balls into goal from crosses and set pieces
wont be bullied about as easily by defender
stronger greater presence on field and in the box like barnes
greater power from shots

I think that right now Gerrard is a great partner for Torres, the understanding between them is growing with every match and next year they will be phenomenal together.  But I think that in a year or two Babel will be moved to the middle to partner up with Torres.

If it came down to a point where money was a factor , and hunter would be 15 million and villa i think is 25 to 30 million , i'd go for hunter

greater power from shots?!?!? And how many of those does Crouch show?

The key skills with a striker of ANY height is ability to score, set up play, keep possession and good positioning. How they do that doesn't really matter, as long as they can do it and the less weaknesses the better. Unfortunately the tall striker is stereotyped into being able to win everything in the air and be a target man, those are skills in themselves and being tall doesn't make you good at them (see PC)
