Good compilation, although the picture quality is rubbish.

Some of those goals were pure genius!

I remember the freekick against Arsenal and the goal at Old trafford, as well as the crackers at Goodison. All back in the 89-90. Remember them as clear as mud.

Barnes was my favourite player growing up, he had the skill of a Brazilian (remember the goal he scored against Brazil ?) The finishing of a striker, infact I'd go so far as to say he could finish better than Kuyt, Bellamy and Crouch. He also had the upper body strength of a Rhino.

He was a delight to watch, God. We could do with him now out on the left banging in the goals.
He's NEVER been replaced :(

Legend.  One of the greats.  My idol as a kid and one who has never been replaced.  Its a shame we were banned from Europe as he never got to set Europe alight.

If there is one player I would want to watch in training its Barnes.

Saw this on the Guardian website.  I had a season ticket at Anfield in 1987/88.  For that season only.  I saw Barnes week in, week out at his absolute peak.  Kenny was managing us.

I have two brothers who both have season tickets.  I get to games myself although not at the frequency they do obviously.  I've made eight games this season.  In twenty years, regardless what happens, they saw Gerrard and Carragher at their peak and Benitez as manager, no matter where they are in the world, they can tell people that.

Oh and by the way, spoke to John Barnes last week in Town before the Barca 0-1 game on Victoria Street (by Revolution on Mathew Street if anyone knows where I'm on about).  Bumped into him in the street.  (That's what happens when you live in Liverpool.  Saw Morientes & Garcia driving on Queens Drive last year and we saw them at traffic lights.  With their long hair, we thought they were two gays at first to our shame...)

Asked Barnesy what he thought of our chances, he reckoned we'd win.  Well, he was half right.

The best Digger goal was the one against QPR. Ran from the halfway line and slotted home - CLASS.  :bowdown

Quality ! Looking back at that clip i had forgotton just how quick digger was, love the first time effort from Beasants kick out, inch perfect. And his bullseye celebration

Many say he didnt quite cut it at international level but who really cares when he pulled that LFC shirt on he was a joy to watch. Club before Country every single time  :bowdown

Loved the guy when I was growing up. I still remember being absolutely appalled at some of the treatment of him by some visiting supporters.

One abiding memory of him was when he was in the England team, must've been in the Graham Taylor era. From the moment the teams came out, he got just horrendously booed. Early on, England get a free-kick from about 25 yards out, and he puts it away with absolutely no fuss at all. Didn't stop all the booing, but made a lot of grown men feel like absolute pr*cks in the blink of an eye.

What I wouldn't give to be able to slot a peak-era Digger out on our left at the moment. He was just phenomenal.

There's one in that clip where he plays a couple of one two's then celebrates infront of the opposing supporters and you can see them all standing there just applauding how good a goal it was.

Absoloutely great player. Only player who's anything like him in world football is Joaquin but he's not as clever.

Agreed! He especially blossomed when he came here, He liked the family atmosphere and seen more of the ball.

You seem familiar brother....Have I spoke to you before? :D
