1-0  to Liverpool, Mavinga in defence and Poulsen in midfield were superb ,and Rafa was at the game so I don't suppose their contribution went unnoticed .

Ngog got the only goal of the game ,United had Macheda and Tosic playing but Liverpool totally dominated the play until Plessis was subsequently dismissed for a high challenge ,they were forced into playing on the counter attack but Mavinga especially was exceptional in defence ,and that Victor Poulsen kid looks a real find .

its Palsson.

I would add that we stayed the more dominant team for a decent amount of time even after going down to 10 men, but there is no doubt that we were all out defending by the end.

I think Plessis did not deserve a straight red, but I think the match will be a great experience for all the players that played.

Pacheco had a knock btw.

Where did you watch it mate ? Stream ?

PAS Giannina, never heard of them. 1-1 doesn't appear a good score for a side like AEK on face value. According to this, assuming I'm reading it right, Greece is ranked 12th in the European leagues and only just ahead of Scotland! That said I think it's based on results in Europe, but as the only consistent point of reference I guess it's as good a measure as any. But you will end up with leagues like Scotland ranked 13th based on the performances of the only teams in their league worth mentioning - no champion outside of the old infirm since whiskeynose was in charge at Aberdeen over 20 years ago. Has any other country had such two donkey dominance for so long? Needle in a haystack, I scanned quite a few leagues and all the ones I could find champions lists for showed at least three different winners and certainly not as far back as 20 years to find a third.

"Two donkey dominance", I quite like that Owz'. Mind you, it's been a while since anyone outside of the Mancs and Chelsea have won it in England as well, and not only that but they have dominated the FA Cup genrally as well. The Arsenal have won the league fairly recently, but we haven't for 20 years and haven't won anything at all for three, although we did reach one final.

Unless someone can break the Man Utd/Chelsea dominance over the next couple of years, they'll certainly begin to lump our league in with the "two donkey dominance" countries. That said, if they continue to spend money like they have done recently, surely at some point Man City will break into whichever select group you care to mention. I say that whether it is actually a big five, four or even two. Hughes is dong a much better job than I think myself and most other people thought he would, but even so if they had someone else more special they'd probably win it in truth.

AGGER RETURNS AS RESERVES BEAT CITY
Steve Hunter 29 September 2009
Daniel Agger made a successful comeback as he helped Liverpool Reserves beat Manchester City 2-0 at the City of Manchester Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Reds No.5 enjoyed a 68 minute run-out and put in an impressive performance at the back for John McMahon's team.

David Ngog played the full 90 minutes and netted the opening goal with a fine finish. Steven Irwin celebrated his 20th birthday with a brilliant second goal as the Reds second string deserved the win.

It was an eventful night as Victor Palsson was sent-off for two bookable offences.

Swiss international Philipp Degen also played 45 minutes but had to leave the field at half-time after feeling unwell.

City welcomed back midfielder Michael Johnson after injury but it was a good night for Liverpool and the return of Agger is a massive boost for Rafa Benitez.

"It was a good win for us and Daniel did really well and it was great to see him back," McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"He was committed, he made some good challenges and he helped the young lads around him. He enjoyed himself and was pleased to be back.

"David scored again which is another plus for us and Stevie's finish was excellent.

"We could have scored a lot more goals in the end and David Amoo and Alex Kacaniklic had good chances.

"It was also great to see Zsolt Poloskei make his debut. He has been out injured for 15 months but it was great to see him on the pitch and he has worked so hard."

Liverpool team: David Martin, Philipp Degen (Chris Mavinga 45), Stephen Darby (Capt), Daniel Ayala, Daniel Agger (Emmanuel Mendy 68), Nathan Eccleston, David Amoo (Zsolt Poloskei 78), David Ngog, Victor Palsson, Alex Kacaniklic. Unused subs: Nikola Saric, Martin Hansen.

TBH, I reckon Eggnog would've been more likely to score a goal tonight than that Russian pornstar we have....what a waste. I'd stick the Voronator in the Ressies and get yer man on the bench instead any day...
