this is a really tough one.

there's 2 ways of looking at it.

you can form an opinion on what Fowler will be like for Liverpool by looking at the way he plays now, or how you think he'd play under LIverpool if he was to sign.

the first way, you've got to definately say "no." Fowler at the moment is not good enought o be a striker at Liverpool. all this "attribute" stuff that STU goes on about never makes sense. you can sit there diessecting a players attributes and come up with a totally wrong conclusion of a player. a player may have all these "attributes" which STU has painstakingly taken time to pigeon hole into nice little boxes, the more boxes with a tick in, the better player you are, (supposedly). But when STU does this it often has no reflection on HOW A PLAYER ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTES IN A GAME OF FOOTBALL. yes Fowler may have these "attributes" but the long and short of it is that at the moment he is quite poo, and unfit.

the second way of looking at it, which has mainly been highlighted best by PeeWee is that there is a possibility that Fowler could raise his entire game, fitness, mentality etc if he did come back. you cant deny this.

I, like evryone else, (i assume), would F*ckin love to see him back. i've heard from certain people how Houllier treated him over that Phil Thommo incident and other stuff and i thought it was disgusting. this is another reason i feel bitter about Houllier. he got rid of God and kept his faith in that big Sack of Sh*t who played alongside Michael Owen. that thought is repulsive.

it's a gamble with Fowler and we could ruin him forever if we sign him. if he's no good his legendary status will disappear and it'll be a great tragedy. if i was to say "no" we shouldnt sign him, it would be based more on protecting his legendary status for all us Liverpool supporters, rather than how he would fare when here.

Ive just read this interesting fact that infact in years to come Robbie could infact buy anfield, being the second richest footballer in the Uk due to the property he has.

Baros is out of action for Liverpool for 4 weeks due to a hamstring injury. The hamstring injury that he was rushed back from versus Crystal Palace. Liverpool have a tradition of doing this -just ask Michael Owen.

Every option possible can be exercised to exhaustion, but the only way Liverpool will suitably accommodate the lack of Cisse in the January Transfer window is not Morientes. Liverpool need an Englishman. One who is loud and proud. One who knows what the institution that is Liverpool FC is all about and what it really means to even support them, let alone play for them.

It must be time now ? Time for the prodigal son to return. Robbie Fowler, please come home. If Benitez is as shrewd and astute as he has been so far, he will keep this quiet and grab the Toxteth Terrier at a relatively cheap price, not that price matters, as the return of Fowler to his home will be a priceless move for the club, the players and of course, the most important people connected to the club - the fans.

This would suit Keegan too. He would be happy to get Fowler off the wage bill, and as a Liverpool fan, I have a pretty good feeling that Keegan will also be happy for Fowler to return to Anfield. The incredible sulk that is Nicolas Anelka will then be Keegan's only worry. Will he leave Man City ? Will he stay ? Where will he go ? Who will buy him ? Who cares ? Anelka thinks he's bigger than Man City - Houllier soon cottoned on and let him go, though Anelka owes Gerard a lot for reviving his career.

Fowler on the other hand, like Houllier, knows and respects Liverpool FC. Fowler was and still is revered as 'God' in the red part of Liverpool, but this never went to his head. He was a true fan who went on to be one of the most loved at Anfield. So much a fan, that he played for Man Utd's most fiercest rivals - Liverpool, Leeds and Man City and regularly riled the Evertonians. Some of us who know about Fowler a lot more than others do, is that these clubs were not a money motivator. Why would they be ? The Scouser has wisely invested in property like no other footballer ever has. I wouldn't be surprised if one day, this property magnate went on to buy the club Mark my words.

Robbie knows the score, he knows what the club need and he knows what the fans want, so why not ? There is nothing that could potentially stop this happening. Even Phil 'Pinnochio' Thomson has been given the boot - which is when most Liverpool fans realised how good Benitez is.

So come on Rafa Benitez, he's your man, because if anyone can. Robbie can.

I dont get this "what a boost it would give to the team" if Robbie came back.....  I thinbk most of the team (if not all) would think.. Sh1t, why are we buying has beens???   Robbie WAS a legend but no more Im afraid.  We need to buy someone young , talented and probably cheap!!!

Think of the effect on the fans...

Watch what he used to do for Liverpool...

Watch what he's doing for Man City and note the similarities of then and Now aswell as the differences...

Note the teams style of play (Liverpools old one, Man City's and ours)...

Note the quality we could have to supply him with...

Note his intelligence and ability to link up with others...

Also think of the effect on team Morale...

Theres also the amount of money he'd cost...

The answer to our striking crisis... YES DEFINATELY... would he come? YES DEFINATELY would he give his all for this club... i think so somehow.

I must admit I am surprised at this post from Stu.

Going back in time Fowler was a great player, but most people can see he hasn't got the mobility, fitness or sharpness to play at the top level anymore.

i dont think the idea is as implausible as you make JBG.

remember this is the worst strikeforce probs we've had for years, so much so that names like Earnshaw, Johnson, Bowditch, McPhee are being bandies around. when you consider this, the Fowler prospect doesnt seem that mad, because as you've pointed out, yes, we are a little bit desperate at the moment. i really do think that he would raise his game in all aspects if he signed. the question is whether it would be enough. he's not our ideal striker but in the current circumstances he may be able to do a small job. it could fail but the thought is not as outlandish as you suggest. we are in serious need of a striker who is cheap and wants to come to us (as to speed up the transfer). Fowler meets that criteria. whether he will be good enough is a different matter.

I am sure Stu and others must be having a laugh. This post is rubbish from start to end, and should not be taken seriously. Even the biggest fool on the hill won't claim Fowler is good enough for us. 6 years of bad football, drinkin booze, partying and fooling around, thats Robbie. I think it is obvious that some people use this board to get a little fun and laughter in their lives. That is why I won't take a stand on this issue, and maybe it is time to let this post die?

Hopefully Fowler can get 3-4 goals for Manchester City this season and help them avoid relegation. And if he was able to slice 15 pounds of fat of his belly and stop smoking pot, maybe he could get 6-8 goals?

He doesn't have the quality around him at Man.City. He doesn't have the drive or determination either, and why the f@ck should he?? If Fowler really really wanted put the work into his game again, he could run rings around the whole of the man.city team.

Get him back to LFC & we'll see the real robbie.

i agree he's overweight and maybe not 100% fit but them problems are not ones which cant be overturned. it would be a problem if he had no skill or ability, which he has. he seems to keep losing his fitness, and i think this is what stops him from playing to his standard. its quite sad. if he could lose that 15 lb (from his ar*e) who knows. when he momentarily gets his fitness he does look quite good. if you've watched him at these times (few and far between) you cant deny this.
