Plea to rafa benitez... - Robbie fowler...

Fowler coming back? You're having a laugh Stu.

He'll want £40,000+ a week and probably a three year contract.

Its smacks of desperation: Fowler hasn't shown anything since early 2001.

Threre is a saying.... "Never Go Back"

Fowler never achieved his true potential, but he is a legend to Liverpool fans. Coming back will change that. I heard he was the second richest footballer through real estate. He does not have the hunger anymore. It will never happen.

Whilst its nice to get all nostalgic its not practical. We are in desperate need of a striker are looking through rose tinited glasses at Fowler. In the run up to his departure to Leeds Fowler was not producing at Anfield, he could not get a regular game. Because of this he was moved on. He went to Leeds and could not hold down his place and was eventually sold to Man City where he again sits on the bench. Is it possible that all theses clubs are wrong? I doubt it. If Fowler was even close to the player he was he would still be at Liverpool now.

Definitely not.

Fowler is my favourite Liverpool player of the 1990s, and is a legend in my eyes. However, his fitness, sharpness and most important of all, motivation and focus are gone and are probably irrecoverable.

He might score a few goals if he came back but opposition clubs would laugh at us, spending £40,000+ a week on a has been.

Yes, he could get 7 or 8 goals in the second half of the season if he came here, but after that, from next season on, he would be a dead weight and would only spoil his relationship with the fans.

A total legend but past it Im afraid

Stu uses stats and facts to batter down arguments about other players but not Robbie, What has he done since leaving us?

Of course seeing him down the touchline would be amazing and seeing him in a Red shirt again would be amazing but 12 months down the line seeing him flop and flounder around the place would not be the memory I want of him

Am I missing something here?

Do you people remember the lack of spark from Robbie towards the end of his tenure?

Harry Kewell replaced him as the fans outlet for abuse when things are going wrong.

If it was five years ago, maybe, but not now!

Its a pity but Robbie would not succeed if he came back
I would imagine that his motivation would be there, but the legs have gone.
Also through his property investment he is a rich man, and does not need 40k a week.

Fowler is too much a risk. And he will bring more inconsistency to this already inconsistent team

youre probably right on this one JBG, although it would be romantic i dont think it would work out long term, Fowler would deffo get the crowd going at first but im not sure if she still has what it takes to lead our attack again.

Still my favourite player of all time though

Nay, Fowler is well past it.
Anelka, would also be a step backwards, a bit like hiring a four year old Renault when both your new Jaguar and Porsche are in the garage for a service.

Yes, I remember his appalling hat trick against Leicester about 3 or 4 weeks before we sold him.

I would love to see him at Anfield once again but itsdef a case of my heart ruling my head. If his motivation has gone like some suggest surelky he wont mind coming back just to go in the squad when we play Utd and roll him him out for that fixture. He can spebd the match giving Fergie the four finger salute and when we get a penalty  bring the GOD on. Just picture it, Fergie would be chokin on his pizza.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.
