Our new defender - Honestly, are you happy?

Yes I'm happy. He's young and highly rated.

I've never seen him play but a bit of scrounging around has turned up a fair bit of infomation and I'm quite pleased now (I was a little skeptical when it was announced as it was a sizeable amount of money - more than I have anyway  :D  :D - and i'd never even heard of him), he's quite quick with a lot of man-of-the-match performances.  He has scored a couple of goals for Malaga, he's rated as almost a certainty for a place in the Spanish national side in the next couple of years and when Real Madrid played Malaga 2 seasons ago Josemi managed to stifle Ronaldo, Raul, Figo and Zidane until the 88th minute so thats good enough for me.

I trust Benithez's judgement although I don't know anything about this guy.

Talking about the signing of Josemi , Rafa said  "we needed a forward (Cisse) and a central defender, now I am not nervous . "  I'm assuming that means he intends to play Josemi alongside Sammi ? .

I also read that it seems that his transfer dabbeling has finnished. No more buys.

I still belive we need a midfielder. We are lacking in that area now.

His prime position was right back, some of us were thinking we didn't need another one, hence the point about Rafa looking to use him in central defence .

Like ckay , I think we still need one more signing for the midfield. I don't think Rafa has closed the transfer book yet, he's still got a month to go with the window open, I expect we'll see one more signing at least.

Beni isn't going to announce he is after a midfielder...that would automatically bump every target players price up, AND, we'd have every agent plugging their players and linking them with false move to us.

Benitez probably knows who he needs and when but he has no reason to tell us or anyone else a thing, yet.

malbraque maybe?  Jermaine Pennant impressed me for Leeds last year but he's not good enough to play for the Reds yet, but he will get better.  Wright-Philips is another good young player.  We've also had some pretty strong links to Owen hargreaves but I think he's more than a little overated (Joe Cole would've been a far superior choice in the england v Portugal game...)

i like owen hargreaves but see malbranque as the best possible signing. no risk involved either as he is proven in the english game and is simply a very classy act who has a great touch, great awareness, great passing and shooting and hes no slouch. can play on the right or as the creative central midfield figure

can take a great penalty aswell:D :D
