I will be first to put my hand up and say I have criticised Rafa and certain players over the years. I have questioned decisions and even ridiculed people who have defended these decisions.
But now this has to stop. For now.
We MUST get behind the manager and the team tomorrow. Not because it is a life or death match, or however the hyped up, exaggerating, bullshi'tting media portrays it. But because we owe it to our manager, our team and most importantly, ourselves. This is OUR club and we cannot go on publicly slagging ourselves. This is not good for LFC. We should be above this. Outsiders have made the most of our slip ups, with the likes of Terry, Neville, Savage and even ex-players such as Collymore and Lawrenson getting in on the act. Doom and gloom. Great stories for the papers who were in ecstasy over the beach ball incident. Manna from heaven indeed.
We have to take control of the situation and that means manager, players AND supporters. We do this by stopping the constant moaning and slagging in the press, on the tv and radio, but mostly at Anfield. Booing is absolutely not the thing to do for liverpudlians. It is possibly the worst show of non-support and disgraceful behaviour I can think of. And it gives our enemies ammunition to use against us. I implore anyone who is going tomorrow, no matter what happens, not to boo our team and manager. I am going tomorrow and I would demand that we get behind them and show everyone why we are the Pride of Merseyside, the chosen ones, the most knowledgeable fans in football, the envy of any football supporter in the world.
Now more than ever we must show why we are Liverpool FC and stand united behind Rafa and our players.
They need us to perform as much as we need them to.
