Reports coming in over the last couple of hours on all Liverpool Radio Stations claim that Jose Reina has agreed personal terms with Liverpool and will be joining the Reds in the summer! Read into this what you want - I've not seen anything else today on Sky Sports or anything but if Radio City are broadcasting this then I'm pretty confient that it's not wrong!

Kirkland is ok, I dont know what the deal with slaggin him off is, but his injuries certainly are costing him dearly. On the other hand, Dudek has been more inconsistant in important matches, the pressure seems to get the better of him when he lest expects it. It seems that he must really psyche himself for the match in order for him to really be prepared for it, and you can tell when he hasn't, because his mistakes are very costly. Carson given his youth is proving to be a great signing, but we do need an experienced goalkeeper, but also one that can communicate with his defence and bark orders willy-nilly. We need someone to take control, and that is what we have been missing since Grobellar. Hope Reina fits into this category, havent seen much of him to comment on him.

I tend to agree that Kirkland has been treated harshly by most people on this forum. I know he wasn't very good when he had a short spell this season, but you have to bear in mind that he had hardly played for us before that, just a few short runs, and also he was playing with a back complaint.

Have seen a little bit of him play last and this season . He's 21 and in the spanish squad and the spanish goalkeeping coach just happens to be Jose Ochotorena .

I don't like the timing of this news. Dudek is one of our most important players next tuesday. He must keep a clean sheet.

Reina looks good. He is a quick lad with good abilities. If Benitez has lined up a deal for him its fine.

Not seen the guy play but reports sound good.  He's bound to be better than what we have.

Dudek - liability

Kirkland - too injury prone and not much better than dudek when fit

Carson - not ready for first team yet

However i agree that the timing of this news is bad ahead of the chelsea game

I think a lot of people are excessively harsh on both Dudek and Kirkland. Aside from Cech this season, there is not a single keeper in the Prem that hasn't made at least two or three howlers that've made people label them "dodgy".

Terrible timing for this news to come out if it's true. The last thing Dudek needs is more to worry about than Chelsea.

José Reina is originally Madrileño, but a lot of his footballing life was learnt in Barcelona. He is 23 years old and won the EUROPEAN under 16 championships in 1999 with an absolutely fabulous Spanish side.

A VERY GOOD goal keeper....EXTREMELY reliable to say the least, and an important reason why Villareal look set to qualify for the Champions League in La Primera this season.

He would be a very good acquisition

ive been reading about it, nothing financial about it yet. It looks like a good deal to me, give carson more time to gain experience. This would give us great flexibility and strength between the pipes.
