However I don't think we can afford to given how tight we will be with money this summer.

But who is good enough to step in for xabi and masher and be happy sat on the bench the other times ? your not going to get someone as good as those two and for that player to be sat on the bench . At the moment Lucas is proving he is good enough to be back up to those players - he has stepped in for both players this season and performed well with a few mistakes but he has improved every game he has played.

I think loaning him out is a good idea perhaps to a premier league side

Rafa wont sell Xabi nor Masher and why send out lucas on loan ? he gets plenty of playing time for a youngster and can also leanr from the best while at liverpool - sending him out on loan will do nothing positive for lucas.

I´ve changed my mind, I see a future for Lucas at Anfield.

I´m more concerned that Insua needs to gain confidence to truely prove he's first team material. The 2 games I've seen him play recently he has been the weakest link by far. I accept that he needs time to adapt - as did Lucas, Kuyt, Benny etc.. before they came good and Robbie Keane who didnt.

I sit in a bar full of people slating him every time he touched the ball, so when he pulled of that little run and shot to the shagrin of the locals I had to give it back a  bit with a simple "See, I told you he was Brazilian!"

I didn't see the game yesterday but if he did well then good, I will admit that he has played better lately.
I still don't think he's good enough for Liverpool though and I wonder how teams like Chelsea and Manure manage to have great midfielders sat on the bench, maybe we could figure out how they do it and do the same, then we could have some decent backup midfielders, strikers etc.

Anderson, Nani, Deco, Obi Mikel etc etc

All a lot lot better than Lucas, yes even Deco  :D

GYBS please don't try to say that we have a stronger squad than Chelsea or Manure, that is our main failing.

Well its quiet easy to see why Giggs and Scholes will sit on the bench as they are both on their twilight years of their careers and been at the manure for the whole of thier careers so they will happily sit on the bench

Anderson - great ?! well he is decent enough and has very good potential but wouldnt call him great .

He is a lot better than Lucas. So is Nani for that matter and he is porbably the worst of the Utd midfielders alongside Fletcher. And as Heimdall pointed out - Obi Mikel...

None of them are great thou are they heimdall - all decent midfielders but none are world beaters are they ? and wouldnt say any of them are a lot better than Lucas .

Obi Mikel for one - see nothing in him whatsoever
Deco - Greta at barce but done what for chelsea ?? nothing
Anderson - Decent with potential with an extra 3/4 years more playing experience than lucas but hasnt out performed Lucas this season - exact same thing with Nani.

But are any of them great ??

Who said anything about them being world beaters? The point of this was to show that they are all better than Lucas which they are. Some say he has been better recently but he has just been playing it a lot more simple in his general game. Plus the players around him have been so good (Stevie, Xabi & Masch) that his usually marginally ok play was overshadowed and not commented on. If we were to draw a game then his play would be singled out more however as we have been scoring so much and playing well generally his own play is being ignored.
