Yer p!ssed me off a bit, but I dont think he will still be here next season anyway.

When Ged was getting grief and that Gerrard hugged him remember when he scored I knew he didnt have that sort of relationship with Rafa anyway.

I really think Rafa needs a number 2 if he is going to stay, he is a football genious but players are people at the same time and need a hug now and again.

I think it's a tricky one for the players. Yes, I think a public show of affection for Rafa from them would have been good.

However, Gerrard coming out and saying that he's just scored a hat-trick for the manager would acknowledge that there is trouble at t'mill, and simply positions the player against the chairmen.

I think Rafa was spot on. Smile at the camera, ignore the premise of all the questioning, and then make them look stupid for repeating the same thing all over again. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxed he looked.

How great would it have been for Rafa to have gone over to Parry after the Presentation to Carra and kicked him square in the nuts and screaming 'TAKE THAT YA TWO FACED BALL SUCKING CLOWN'!

We can all dream I suppose.  :D

How good was Gerrard tonight though? He was emense what a player even carra said on MOTD the best player at the club and one of the best players in the world.

Torres had a bit of a mare in a cold, rainy, windy tuesday evening in England welcome to Liverpool lad.

Babel showed some world class moves aswell, could have scored 3, needs a place in the team to get some more expeirence this lad is class when he turns it on.

Even Andy Gray said one to watch next season Babel is going to be as good as Henry :D

History has many examples of Managers being given plenty of money only to be sacked not long after.

The fact that the yanks #1 target has taken another job means if they do want a change there gonan have to look elsewhere.  They would be crazy to sack the manager now with nobody to come in.  Well there is King Kenny.

I cant believe this is all just sorted.  One thing is Rafa knowing what they did and then getting on with his job however the yanks going to the press is something totally different.  They didnt have to do it and I believe rafa is just as surprised as all we are.  Like others have suggested they probably only did it as they knew it was going to come out in the press anyway.

We thought it was but now we know it was to tell Rafa that they had interviewed someone else for his job.

Are you American BTW?

1) We're through.

2) It was a convincing victory, hopefully a confidence builder. You can't read too much into the overall display given the opposition and circumstances surrounding the game. It was a game against lower-league opposition that desperately demanded a reaction - atypical.

3) The fans gave Rafa their full support (with the exception of a few D&G'ers - sulky/moaning tw@ts)

4) I've just seen the post-match interview - Rafa had a cheeky grin on his face, he appears focussed on improving our results - no change there.

5) We're through.

Great result and a comfortable performance.

Hopefully the football will be at the forefront of discussion now as that win tonight should hopefully take some ill feeling away from this public debacle.

From the moment we kicked off tonight it looked inevitable we'd score, but by the time half time was looming I couldnt believe we hadnt scored. Then Babel finnished well to give us a desrved lead, I still think we're going to have trouble breaking teams down though in the Prem. I dont think our overall game lacks too much consistency, but where we do lack consistency is in breaking teams down. We beat Portsmouth at home 4-1, drew 0-0 away against them, Wigan, Reading and teams like Birmingham we find it a struggle to kill them off or even break them down.

For me thats where our inconsistency lies.

It was great to see Carra get the 'guard of honour' what a player he has been for the club, even noticed on a couple of occassions he ventured forward looking for a goal. The whole team played well tonight no complaints, Crouch had a very good game and did more in the first ten minutes (attacking wise) than Kuyt has done all season, couldnt resist a dig at the Dutchman he grates me.

Pennant played quite well, maybe we have missed him more than people think, he'll never be an outstanding player for us but does offer us real width and purpose in his foward play. Him and Crouch IMO should get back into the team, like last season both did have good patches of play throughout the season. Babel looked good to, at times he found himself in acres of space in the first half and should of really taken advantage of that more than he did. Their fullback Kean did pretty well against him, as a couple of times he was left one on one with Babel and frustratingly Babel struggled to get past him.  Like I've said before, I'm willing to give this lad time, like Pennant a bit. We didnt see that much from Pennant in the first half of last season be he grew in confidence and has settled well, I think we can apply the same kind of thing to Babel as he clearly does have some quality and over time I hope to see more of that on a consistent basis.

Alonso played well tonight, got stuck in and looked like he wanted it more than when he played at Kenilworth road, a good display from him and Gerrard to. Cracking third goal from Stevie there. Torres, not one of his better games, but if he's not on form its good to see other players like Babel and Crouch step up to the occassion, I just hope these players can do that against Prem opponents when the likes of Gerrard and Nando arent in form, history tells us they wont though, so I wont hold me breath. Except with Crouch  if he got more playing time I reckon he'd be one that could dig us out of the $hit, so to speak.

Bring on Havant & Waterlooville, feck knows who they are :D  Are they from Kent ?
