Mascheranho CAN still improve, which is a credit to him. To be a world class player with room for great improvement, shows how good he already is. His passing looks to of picked up over the past months, now all I'd like to see is him chip in with two or three goals a season.

Great buy (despite me doubting him in his first six-eight months at the club)

apparently, those muppets on sky were bleating on before the game again, saying that mascherano is definitely not worth £18m because he "offers nothing going forward".

just as he smashes a 25 yard screamer into the top corner.

Good on masch , well GBJH , he's equalled makele's record and his goal wasn't from a pen

. Thommo saying he was only worth 10 million

We sold Momo for that, are they saying then Masch is worth the same as him? Masch is the best player in the world in his position now, and hes got years to improve. And to think Carrick and Hargreaves cost pretty much the same amount, weve got ourselfs a bargain.

well even if he doesn't score I would say he's worth every penny of that 18 million... because he offers so many other stuff to the team... but I'm sure he will score because he's capable of it... especially if he's unmarked coming up from a deeper position...

one aspect of him slightly worries me though... he tends to get in the referee's face a bit too much...

... so far he hasn't been punished for it... but you never know when you get a referee with a short fuse...

Yeah,I agree with you. Mascherano is a better player than both Hargreaves and Carrick in his position and we have paid the same price as they did for both players.

Even if Mascherano scores 0 goals a season, his job is to offer protection to the back four and break up attacks. And as long as he continues to do that well, then he willl be worth every penny.

I've been the biggest moaner on here about Mascheranho and his lack of goals, but yesterday he proved that he does have it in his locker. If he chips in with a few each season then I'll be more than pleased because the rest of his game is outstanding even his passing has come on leaps and bounds of late.
