DUDEK DESPERATE TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL



Jerzy Dudek insists he will not play again for Liverpool and wants to leave the club "at whatever cost".

The goalkeeper, a hero for the Anfield club in last season's Champions League final against AC Milan, has accused manager Rafael Benitez of talking "rubbish".

After the 32-year-old played a key role in the penalty shoot-out in Istanbul, he has since fallen behind both Jose Reina and Scott Carson in the Anfield pecking order, and wants first team football to protect his place in the Poland team for this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.

"My time at Liverpool has reached its end. Nothing can change that," Dudek told The Sun.

The Pole believes Liverpool want £3million for him, but said: "If someone buys me for £3million, Liverpool will have pulled off the transfer deal of the year. I am 33 in March. I have no idea how they came to such an absurd figure.

"It's the latest lot of rubbish from Benitez. Even if he wants to play me in a Liverpool match, I don't want to play for this club any more.

"I can't see any point talking further with Benitez. It's a waste of time. I have decided to leave Liverpool at whatever cost and I won't change my mind. Benitez just makes the frustration deeper.

"I didn't go to play against Luton in the FA Cup last Saturday especially to make it clear to Benitez I am not interested in being the club's second-choice keeper.

"Why doesn't he behave like a decent person for once in his life and start treating me in a proper way, like I always have him?"

Sad way to end it all, shame it has had to come to this.  I'm surprised Dudek hasn't been put up in the shop window.  Oh well, I guess business is business, but it must be tougher on goal keepers in this position than any other players.

Well, I must admit, I am far more likely to believe the BBC as opposed to believing the above quotes from the Sun that one of the forum members posted.

It seems like it could be true, and I am extremely surprised, it doesn't sound like Dudek AT ALL, and it shows he must be absolutely furious if the quotes are true.

Benítez always has serious fallouts with players, Dudek is just another one.

he has to move for his world cup chances. judging by the west brom keepers performance on new years eve against us, jerzy will struggle to be polish number one unless he's playing regular first team football. in all fairness, he would have gone in the summer if he wasn't injured.

I wouldn't stay if I were Dudek.  He wants the Polish No.1 shirt in time for the World Cup.  If it were me, I'd want it too.  Imagine going to the biggest tournament of your life and sitting on the bench for all three/four games.

He should be let go and thanked for his efforts.  He'll always exist in Liverpool folklore.

I must admit i feel sorry for the lad, All he wants to do his play football and be no1 keeper for a club. He knows it won't happen here and has probably realised this since we signed reina. So Rafa should do the decent thing and let the lad leave for regular football.His price tag the manager has put on his head sounds alot at 3m. But really is it, he could still do a big job for another club for another 3 years so 3m i don't think is a big price tag, is this the real problem we want 3m but no takers at the moment.Looks now though he could go in a deal with cash for another player or a fee of around 2m will be agreed.I think he will go to portsmouth or abroad just have to see but no doubt i think he will go in the next week now no doubt about that.

DUDEK: RUBBISH BENITEZ

JERZY DUDEK'S bitter row with Rafa Benitez exploded last night when he told the Liverpool boss: "You talk rubbish and I'll never play for this club again."


The hero of last year's Champions League final, keeper Dudek wants to quit Anfield because he has lost his place to Jose Reina. But Benitez has told him he must stay unless a club bids £3million for him.


But a furious Dudek blasted: "It's the latest lot of rubbish from Benitez. Even if he wants to me play for Liverpool again, I won't. I don't want to play for this club any more.


"Talking to Benitez again will just be a waste of time. I have decided to leave Liverpool and I won't change my mind.


"I am not interested in being the club's second-choice keeper."

  Jerzy Dudek has reacted angrily to morning newspaper claims that he has criticised manager Rafael Benitez by declaring: "I have nothing but respect for the boss." 
The Liverpool goalkeeper is unhappy with claims that he has launched a scathing attack on the Reds' boss and, although he admits he is frustrated not to be playing at the moment, he is furious with suggestions that he never wants to play for the club again.
 
"I was very unhappy to read the stories about me in today's newspapers," said Dudek. "I did not say those things and have sat down with the manager and told him that.
 
"I have a great deal of respect for Rafa Benitez and have learnt more from him in the past 18 months than from any other manager in my career. You do not insult somebody you respect.
 
"It's crazy when people claim I don't want to play for Liverpool anymore. This is a great club with fantastic supporters, so why would I not want to be involved?
 
"Like any other footballer I want to play regularly. I have become frustrated at my current situation, but I am a professional and will continue to work as hard as I can in training and do my best for Liverpool Football club."
