Lots of question marks about this transfer but I hope he proves the doubters wrong. Welcome to the club Hugo.

Reckon this kid will surprise a few. Looks like he has pace and power as well as being tidy on the ball.

A few goals early on and he could ignite.

Took the boy just 4 minutes to open his account

Thought he was brilliant. Could have had 2 more 2nd half the header was a bad miss. His movement and touches were superb.

Isak must be desperate to complete the jigsaw.

Yep, he's shown that he has quality thus far. A lot of people praised his link up play before he signed and I must admit he really is good at that. Good early signs from the lad, hope he keeps it up.

Also, he looks like he could play on the left wing too, so we can use him there as well if need be.

The lad adapted well from day 1 so he must be our main focus. Isak must strive to catch up but we must base our team around him, not Mo, not Gakpo, not Isak.

I hope Isak doesn't end up being like one of those players that just don't work out. It can happen as we've seen it on many occasions, Torres to Chelsea, Alexis to United. Sometimes the forward doesn't fit with the new system, players, coaches etc..

Ekitike has been a great signing for us. I know we paid a lot of money for Isak but I really can't understand Slot preferring him over Ekitike in some games in a period when we can't afford the luxury of not having our most in-form players on the pitch. Playing Isak instead of Ekitike cost us points in some games IMO. Ekitike is clearly the better player at the moment and should be played when fit.

Totally agree that Hugo has so far been a better signing. I dont think he was signed as a starter but a squad player. His career was full of loan moves. Loan to PSG then they signed him but makes only 1 appearance and goes on loan to Frankfurt. They signed him a year later and after a season they sell to us. I dont think we bought him as our mainstay striker tbh. Hes been a bright spark in a season that started in darkness tbh. At the moment he deserves to be in that starting line up 100%.

Im not so sure Isak cost us points either, our points dropped have been through weak performances from the team. Far to many off it in each game to place blame at any one player. He has been disappointing though but a few factors to consider. Lack of a pre season, injury and settling into a new team. His move here wasnt smooth either.  Bottom line though is that he is quality. 109 appearances in English football with 66 goals is as good a return as anyone, We have all seen his quality for Newcastle and I have no doubt we will see it for us. The money paid is ridiculous and I think thats what upsets most but they had us over a barrel. Far too early to write him off imo given we know what hes capable of. Personally im happy we have both players.

We need BOTH of them - what on earth would we do if Ekitike got an injury and was out for a month or two - or vice versa.

We lost Jota tragically and sold Nunez - BOTH needed replacing and we have done just that.

No point having one number 9 in the PL it would be insane with the number and intensity of games when you add in Europe and the domestic cups

Isak will come good at some point in the future, he's only 26 and just far too good a player not to come good. I remember watching the Arsenal fan tv crew discussing him back when he was a Newcastle player, they were all saying Isak is the only player in the league who consistently has Saliba rattled.
Both Isak and Hugo are quality as is Flo, if we sort the defence out and give those lads a proper platform to perform from i think we'll win the treble in the next 3 or 4 years i genuinely do. Even now, we are shyte but we beat both a Real Madrid side with a front line of Mbappe, Vini jr and Bellingham and an Inter side who had appeared in 2 of the last 3 CL finals and hadnt been beat at home in 3 years or something. We have quality to burn our squad is absolutely dripping in the stuff, Flo alone...sometimes that lad does things and your like jesus that was just like watching Kenny  its the other side of the game we have to sort out, the scrapping and the fighting and defending like not our lives but the lives of our children depend on it etc
