I think Boro will be a stern test, this is a comp they've won before and are very capable of winning again this season. Maybe start one or 2 of the 2nd string lads and use another couple as subs but we're in the comp so we might as well try and win it. We'll need our wits about us to beat Boro.

I would like to see Welsh on the Bench at least. And we should start with Pongolle and Mellor, with Garcia on the bench.

With both teams being in Europe this season I think both side are gonna rest players, I think its gonna be a big match for Biscan to prove to Benitez he is good enought to play in the first team. As he played well when he come on against Birmingham.

As Egghead said, its time to see Welch coming into it. We need to see what level he's at.

Henchoz and Diao also need run outs, because the way things are going with injuries, we will probably need to call on them this season.

Biscan should start, as should Mellor, Pongolle and Warnock.

I would stick with teh same team as last week, it should be their chance to play as it was those players who got us into the next round.

I would replace Diao with Welsh though.

It will be intresting to see the team Rafa puts out.

Maybe thats why LFC have e-mailed me ten times over tickets, not selling as everyone thinks its the kids.

I also think that Boro will play some of their youngsters, although they must be one of the favourites for the cup again.

Downing is a blinding good player.

I'd go with...

Mellor Pongolle
Warnock Welsh IGOR© Potter
Traore Whitbread Henchoz Finnan
Dudek

My bench would be:

Luis Garcia
Alonso
Hyypia
Kewell
Kirkland

We'd win 2-1 with that team, can see it now. :D

what happened to welsh doesn't rafa rate i don't excpect him to play any carling cup games for us. he was promised 10 first team games by houiller but he only got 1 sub apperance against arsenal, it be intresting to see david raven play. does well in the reserve  current england under 20's captain so must be pretty decent let see if he make the setup and maybe rafa won't have to buy a centre back in january also he can play at right back . i would like to see zak whitbread at left although he did well at centre back give him a try in his natural posistion :)

Decent team only I would play Warnock left back and give Traore a rest and bring Kewell in at left mid as he needs to get match fit.

Mmm nar.

Can see what you're saying and made me think, but in all honesty i'd rather Traore wasn't a first teamer.

Our back 4 should be...

Riise, Hyypia, Carragher, Finnan.

Also i like Warnock and think he could become a good left midfielder. :) Thats where i want to see him develope.

The main reason behind my thinking is that we need an on form Kewell if there is such a thing.

I disagree. Traore has proven himself week in and week out that he deserves to play. Let him play. Josemi has been poor so until he gets his act together, Finnan should replace him.
