Games that cost us.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby lakes10 » Wed Apr 25, 2007 12:04 pm

Having a look back of the year we have lost points in silly games were we should have taken the points.
Dont you just hate it when a team comes out and all they have in mind is 0-0, or try to just get that one goal and sit back for the rest of the game?

Saturday, 19 August 2006
Barclays Premiership

Sheff Utd 1-1  Liverpool

First game, we made a bit of a slow start and looking back we should have walked this game.

Saturday, 30 September 2006
Barclays Premiership
Bolton 2- 0  Liverpool

Strange game, we looked cold and unfit

Saturday, 14 October 2006
Barclays Premiership

Liverpool 1-1  Blackburn
Guted, we should have won this one.

Saturday, 18 November 2006
Barclays Premiership

Middlesbro' 0-0  Liverpool

What was we thinking, we were all over them, we just could not get that ball in the net.

Wednesday, 29 November 2006
Barclays Premiership

Liverpool 0-0  Portsmouth

Same again (also only the 3rd time i ever heard boos )

Tuesday, 26 December 2006
Barclays Premiership

Blackburn 1-0 Liverpool

Yep this peed me right off,
They get the goal just after half time and just sit back and block us out.

Saturday, 03 February 2007
Barclays Premiership
Liverpool 0-0  Everton

100 % all over them

Saturday, 10 February 2007
Barclays Premiership
Newcastle 2-1  Liverpool

We got our goal on 6 mins, looked like we was going to shut up shop but ended up going in at half time 1-1, they looked like taking just 1 point till we gave them a pen.

Saturday, 03 March 2007
Barclays Premiership

Liverpool 0-1 Man Utd

HOW THE HELL

Sunday, 18 March 2007
Barclays Premiership

Aston Villa 0-0 Liverpool
Well this was my post at the time
"well i am sorry to say that i fell asleep at 40 min and have only just woke up, going by the thread the game has not got any better. "

Saturday, 14 April 2007
Barclays Premiership
Man City 0-0 Liverpool

not as bad but we still lost 2 points.

So what, thats about 25 points we should have got .

I tell you what i will give us the points.....hey we won the Premiership 2 weeks ago if i did lol.

point being We are one of the best teams in the world (if not the best ). When we go to play teams they still fear us.

We are not far off from being Top dog again, cut out the silly games, (ie dont rest playes as a game looks a given).

and next Year could or will be our year.

I am in a bit of an optimistic mood this week, On Teusday i told my job to stick it (first time i have ever done that and it felt so good)....so i dont have a job right now but i do have a interviews coming up.

You see the thing is i am not only a paranormal investigator in my spare time but also a life choach.
The life choach is somthing i am starting to do full time soon, so i said to myself the other day" if you just sit in this job nothing will happen"   so i left lol.

anyone got any money i can have pmsl.

Teams we had no business dropping points to this campaign if we wanted to call ourselves title challengers:

1) Sheffield United (2 dropped)
2) Man City (2 dropped)
3) Middlesbrough (2 dropped)
4) Aston Villa (2 dropped)
5) Newcastle (3 dropped)
6) Portsmouth (2 dropped, so far)
7) Blackburn (5 dropped)
8) Bolton (3 dropped)
9) Everton (5 dropped)

Now, that seems harsh but, given the pace set by the league winners the past few seasons, even a string of draws means we fall out of touching distance from the leaders rapidly.  We simply cannot drop this many points to lesser sides.

On the flip side, we need to do better against the top sides as well: at minimum, 2 wins and 1 draw at Anfield and at least a couple of draws at Old Trafford/Emerates/Stamford Bridge.

Boro, Newcastle, blueshite and Bolton are no easy games away but we need to win games like that to compete for the title. I have been looking at the home and away points for Champions compared to Liverpool in the Premiership and I think we are on average FOUR wins behind the Champions and that's before 90 points became the standard minimum for winning the title (might be less this season)

So that's 12 points dropped on 'title rivals' away from home. Also the Champions have been unbeaten at home on several occaisions, despite improved home records in recent seasons we have yet to record an unbeaten home season in the league. The biggest single problem we have away from home is goals. While we talk of those away defeats against Sheff Utd, Bolton, blueshite, Chelsea, mancs and Arsenal you also have to emphasise that we scored one goal in those games and that away to Sheff Utd from the penalty spot. You don't score goals you don't win games. Look at the results had we scored just one goal in each or any of those away games. If we concede two or three then fair enough but to lose by the odd goal, end goalless or finish nil nil is frustrating. I think Liverpool have managed 70 goals or more in a Premiership season just twice which is feeble considering we're a top four side minimum and have had Fowler and/or Owen up front in that period

The problem is we don't steamroller the poor sides, all the teams listed don't expect to win against the top 2-3 sides, and we give too much respect, i was really positive about the season re the league, and wished we could have started again after Shef utd. Rafas plans are great, but against the weaker sides they need to worry about us not other way round.

Newcastle being in the top ten must mean they take the intertoto cup and/or UEFA cup seriously. They're mid table this season and haven't won diddly worth winning in 30 odd years. Since we finish above them virtually ever Premiership season, win trophies and are near always in the top European competition only an idiot would take a list with the barcodes above us seriously

Man Utd are ahead of us despite doing worse in the CL two seasons in a row and only finishing one place higher than us in the league - by one point was it last season? We won the FA Cup to their mickey mouse triumph over Wigan and frankly it's a joke they're ahead of us too!
