Diouf worth £10m - Money well spent

Picture it, its Sunday May 14th 2005.

The time is 4.45 pm.

Liverpool are winning 4 - 1 in a must win game at home to Aston Villa, however all is not well.

Over in Lancashire, Bolton to be precise, at the Reebok Stadium, Liverpool's city rivals, Everton are leading one nil thanks to a James Beattie goal. Bad news for fans of Liverpool and Bolton.

Now rewind to 2.55pm that same day. Live on Sky the fight for that lucrative 4th place and a potential £15m bonanza for qualification to the Champions League proper. A win for either Everton or Bolton will guarantee their qualification. A win for Liverpool and a draw at the Reebok and Liverpool are guaranteed 4th spot.

Fast forward again to 4.56pm and A Kevin Davies cross is met by none other than El Hadji Diouf. GOAL! And its all square at the Reebok. If it stays the same Liverpool qualify.

Moments later the final whistle goes at the Reebok, and Liverpool get 4th spot and guaranteed Champions League qualification. Now they can look forward to the Champions League final in Istambul against Lyon.

Shortly after the games have finished, Liverpool announce that Diouf will be given a free transfer.

Just imagine......

The point being, Diouf scores for Bolton, which means we qualify for fourth spot and the Champions LEague, therfore he re-pays the money we spent on the loser.

I think it is called Irony, however it is obviously lost on you lot !  :D

So wat if Diouf get Bolton into the Champions league how much is the loser worth then ???

Oh ok i get it.

It would be ironic... but it just seems like a rather unusual sequence of events.  For starters no matter wat happens why would we give Diouff a free transfer when Benitez has already named a price for him ???

I think the point that Leon was making was that Diouf's EQUALIZER for Bolton, meant that Liverpool secured 4th place!!!

Leon I like your Irony!!  And I'd give him a free transfer if it happened like that!!!! LOL

wait hold on a minute! as it should stand, the table would be currently like that:
----------PlayedGames-Points
Everton----37----------same with Bolton
Bolton-----37----------same with Everton
Liverpool---37----------1 point below Bolton and Everton

WHY would we even be behind Bolton and Everton considering we ran into some form of late, judging by the 4-1 Aston Villa win and the advancement to the CL Finals?
