Fair enough and that is correct but what he also said is that he could spot "sh1t" players from their first game and it would have been nice to see him commit now so as he cannot change his opinion to follow the hoards later.

I was curious about his opinion and he seemed to hedge his bets but no doubt he will later claim to have known the player was not good enough (or world class) from his first game.

I know its nothing to do with me but i dont think Stu goes with the hoards when judging players mate, one look at the ideal partner for Torres thread will prove that  :D

Anyway i would also like to know what Stu thinks about Plessis after his debut.

Some posters are getting ahead of themselves , yes it was a good performance but in no way is he better then momo just after 1 game , momo was splendid his first 2 season and like i saidi think we will regret the sale of momo in years to come

Just wait till he misplaces a pass, then you can all over react and label him useless.

Sadly, very true, we've seen that before.

Looks a very good prospect to me.

The good thing is whereas in the past we've seen an impressive debut and that's all we've had to go on, in this case we've seen him play all season for the reserves. The thing about Plessis' performance at the weekend was the fact that it's exactly the kind of performance he's put in for the reserves in pretty much every game so far this season. The only unusual thing about it was that it was against Fabregas and Flamini, not some kid from the great unknown.

So he deserves the praise. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him in the sixteen against Blackburn on Sunday.

I'd rather see him play than Alonso who has been not so good lately.

He completed more passes in that one game than Sissoko did in 2 seasons.

:D

This is getting insane now.

Looks good but first game and in particular against Arsenal. Mash and Alonso are still the main men in that position and surely are favourites to retain that. But as a prospect I am impressed and hope he gets some games next season

That is how it works with some here. Praise him after one game and call him a great prospect and then when he has a couple of quite games call him sh1t and say he can trap a ball further than most of us can kick it and how obvious it is he is not good enough.

Curious to know what stu thinks

:)

He's world class, the new Vieira and the best player in the world after he's played loads of games and settled into english football and gained loads of attrtibutes he's not got... remember Henry and Pires...

I didn't see the whole game due to work commitments, I saw about 5 minutes of highlights, most or which were replays and about the goals.

Had I seen the game I would have made a comment. But there's not really a need as It will be dismissed as being rubbish yet again just as it was with Baros, Carragher, Finnan, Hyypia, Cisse, Sissoko, Babel etc etc etc.

From what I've seen he looks decent, no more, no less, I would not expect him to be a first team regular. On saying that I haven't seen a great deal so after I've seen him for a game properly, I'll be able to tell you what I think.

Thats of course, if you're really interested.

don't wind him up, look at all them cards he got.  but actually Pennant is better than most people give him credit for. :D

oh and Plessis played 90 minutes on thursday so he certianly won't be starting on Saturday, chance he is on the bench though because mascherano is still suspended.

Better than :censored:, that IS impressive! He won't be starting on Saturday, then again noone will be.................. I think after his performance he will start, Rafa can always take him off.

Probably one of the more rational posts in this thread.

As for my comment, I was impressed at how the other senior player were looking for him to get themselves out of trouble because he got tight passes with players around him and he always seemed to retain his composure, something good midfielders must. One of the announcers said before the match "we do not know alot about him but Raffa says he is very strong mentally". From what I saw in the Arsenal match that seems correct.

Look forward to seeing more of him.

I was more than half expecting him to play yesterday, I know the team was more first choice than in the league against Arsenal, but I don't believe giving him one game then not another chance (for at least a while) is good management. Lucas gets a few opportunities, Plessis got one.

We're entering a run of games now that it's unlikely we'll see Plessis risked in, I say that in the knowledge that I'll be happy if I'm wrong. Four games in twelve days including the crucial CL semis.
