There are strikers that don't appear in the whole match. He scored goals yesteryear, and there are things that cannot be forgotten. Goals will come, because he's near the goals at the moment.

BTW, Judge, I must congratulate you this time (don't get used to it), since this thread is constructive and not player bashing :P

just needs some long curly hair, and a little mouth job and we would be set. Now lets see if he can get the ball rolling on satuday.

ok, he played well, but crouchinho? an assasin?

he did everything but score... hes a fecking striker!!!!!!
did dudek play well coz he did everything but stop goals?
nice one crouch, but score some goals please. cisse would have knocked them in last night if hed started.

I like crouch, but he needs to score, we have a talented midfield to do that work, let the strikers strike. Its nice we are egging him on, but lets not get overboard.

Don't go overboard is sound reasoning Daws'. Crouchie wasn't clueless two weeks ago and he isn't Pele now. I actually think that Morientes was poor last night and if Crouch had had a sharp striker alongside him, they would have had a beano.
Things seem to be coming together for the big man. Clearly he needs a goal though last night he was bang unlucky with the volley and a couple of headers. I like him and have said from the start that I'm glad we signed him, I've been one of his biggest supporters on here I think. At seven million quid however, he must score goals to be considered value for money. I don't mean 20 a season, but I don't mean a Heskey like 5 per season either. Clearly sooner or later he will score and the wait is proving as entertaining as it is agonising. The test is though, how many will he get season by season. My hunch is that he will be mid-teens if he plays regularly, but less than 10 a year over two or three seasons would see his transfer being viewed as a mistake.
One other thing. If Rafa isn't going to play Cisse, then I hope he sells him in January for big money. Morientes isn't the answer in my view and we really do need a goalscoring striker in which the manager has faith.

I seem to remember a story about somebody recommending a player to Bill Shankly .They told Shanks all the facts and figures about the player ,his pace ,his height ,his ball control ,his passing ability ,his vision  and his goal scoring record .Shanks thought for a moment and then replied .

"Yeah son ,he may have all those things ,but is he lucky ? "  :D

Crouchino obviously isn't .

Crouch has definately won me over. I am in the Crouch camp deffo. He always gives a 100% and 9/10 always makes an impression on the match. Great buy. :)

Hi Bigmick, I've got used to read good reasons and points in every one of your posts. And I'd like to hear or you develop this idea. I also reckon that if we drop Cisse we need another striker, is that what you mean? or are you not convinced by Morientes? If so, I'd love you explain why. Thanks.

My opinion is based on what I see with Morientes, Sabre mate. Though I can admire his touch and class, I don't think he is physical enough to play in the role and style which we require. Too often his lack of upper body strength and aggression allows him to be bustled off the ball by a centre-half who is able to sit really tight due to Moro's lack of pace. He looks like a player who is past his best to me as on the occasions I saw him before we signed him, he looked excellent. If we are going to persist with Crouch (and I think we should, by and large) then I think we need a pacy and direct frontman to feed off the big mans knock-ons and nudges. Quite why that man can't be Cisse is a bit of a mystery to be honest, as he seems to posess the attributes required to make the partnership work but there you go.

The simple fact of the matter is that Rafa doesn't appear to rate the Frenchman, and we are not in financial terms a big enough club to pay 14 million pounds for a player and sit him on the bench. My suspicion is that we would probably get about 8 million back for him and if Rafa isn't going to play him, then this is my preferred option with the money being reinvested in a different striker. As to who that will be, who knows but I feel it will be a player from overseas rather than a British based player.

Watching Morientes i always get the impression, that hes got the class in his head, hes just to slow getting it across to his feet, he can turn a player easily or do a neat turn, but half the time he struggles with pace and strenth to get the ball.

If he gets a chance, you would normally bank on him scoring, but i think he has naturally lost a yard because of his age, if he could become a more intelligent player round the box like a sheringham, because he does possess that quality, then he could be a good buy.

I see your points.

I agree some aspects. I agree Crouch is the future, I rate the lad. But I think Morientes is in the peak of what he can provide, not in decadence. I admit he had a slow start, but from my view, he's getting better. After leaving behind the injury I think I'm *beginning* to see what I'm used to from Morientes. But no words nor reputation nor articles will convince you, since you are smart guys. I hope he makes my words good in the right place: the pitch, and that he'll eventually convince you :)+

Thanks, for the explanation
