It must be clear to Roy that he shouldn't ever start surely?  I hope with us getting back to form he doesn't get any ideas of bringing him back into the 1st team.

I think Roy will continue to do what he's done so far, namely have a very clear idea about what his first team is, and use the rest in the Europa league cup games. Lucas has come into the team and is playing his best football in a Liverpool shirt, whilst Poulsen has been disappointing so I shouldn't think the Brazillian is under that much pressure right now.

We've seen already that Roys instinct is largely to stick with a winning line up, and I'm all for it.

Exactly. Play your first X1 and come january if he's surplus to requirements then its exit stage left - as no doubt it will be for a few others as well.

This forum is worse and worse, the union against Twit and :censored: was already forgotten, and it has only been 3 weeks since that.  :(

wtf?

poulsen is sh.it.

any football fan with eyes can attest to that.

its pointless to pick on each other just because some of us arent behind certain people on the team. that doesnt make some of us any less of a fan. just a fan that has higher expectations of the players who make up my beloved team.

and christian fu.cking poulsen is not up to standard. i havent seen him put in a shift to make me reconsider that statement, and i dont think he ever will. he doesnt mesh well with the styles of the other players. and to think that we parted ways with 4.5 million AND aquilani to get him in return just sends shudders down my spine.

he's surrounded by players that like to press and harass opponents, as well as making attack minded passes.

poulsen's too static and negative in the way he covers the back line and passes the ball. putting him in a midfield with players who like to get forward, like gerrard and cole and meireles, just does not help the cause.

I think that's unlikely nan unless on his occasional appearances he plays much better. Trying to get rid of players on inflated contracts who aren't actually producing is a massively difficult task as we've found out many times in the past. Not only that, but we have more pressing issues and potentially much more expensive mistakes to urgently address.

Jovanovic for example is 29 years old and apparantly on 80 grand a week, 4 million quid a year. Anyone who's seen him play will no doubt agree that his chances of becoming a first team regular are about as high as mine, and our only hope I should think with him is that he signed a three year deal and not a four year one (I don't know to be honest).

Then you've got Babel, an 11 million quid investment rapidly diminishing, no doubt on big wages too. Not only a disasterous buy, but a disasterous "fail to sell" as well because i very much doubt anyone will match Birminghams offer of 9 million quid from a year ago.

Even Glen Johnson, 18 million quids worth of right back must surely be looking over his shoulder now. Again, huge salary and not in all probability much chance of a return on investment.

Then obviously there's Aquilani. 20 million quid and we've all got our fingers crossed he plays well in Serie A so someone will buy him.

It would be lovely if Roy could just ship all the deadwood out in January, but life is never that simple unfortunately. My guess is that over the next 18 months or so, we are going to prove it more than once.

I don't think there will be any major changes in January.  Hopefully if we can get up towards the top 4 by xmas we'll sign a decent player or 2.  A striker and a left winger for me.

i think in the summer or maybe jan Babel will get sold for a decent fee. (8 or 9 mil).  And Aqua will get us a decent fee too.  Jovan will probably be sold cheap.

Id keep Johnson though.  I think he can add something to the squad.  clearly he cant defend that well though.  But he always looks dangerous when he goes forward.  (he won the match winning pen the other night).

Well, Babel I believe would still fetch 8-9 million and we have a decent chance of getting the money back on Aqua since he is young and we already got a loan fee.

Poulsen and Jovanovic are tougher and I can see them staying until their contracts end. Add Carra to that lot as overpaid.
90 grand/week when he is 34-35...    :no

Christian Poulsen backed to make the grade at Liverpool FC by Richard Buxton. Published Tue 09 Nov 2010 21:01
Roy Hodgson has backed Christian Poulsen to make the grade at Liverpool despite a muted start to life at Anfield.

Speculation is mounting that the midfielder will quit Merseyside in January after failing to settle in the Premier League since his £4.5million move from Juventus in August.

But Hodgson believes that Lucas Leiva's emergence as a key first team player is cause for optimism that Denmark international Poulsen, 30, can also turn things around.

He said: "Christian Poulsen, who has had a bad start to the season, is to some extent also a victim of prejudice at the moment.

"I am convinced in both of these players we have really useful players who will serve us to great effect for the rest of the season.

"Maybe Christian will have to go through a bit of what Lucas went through but I know the players have the quality we are looking for and I know they are going to help us win matches."

Sorry Roy not having it , even on Lucas bad days he still makes Poulson looks sh,ite . Victom of predudise my :censored: , hes not fu.cking good enough and never will be ,

Spot on Nan...
Poulsen has been cack since he joined. RH got this one totally ar.seways - no two ways about it, he should be packed off back to Italy.
Though I would take Aquaman back in a flash - I really don't think he got the chance to shine. He doesn't want to come back so maybe we should put that down to a bad decision and recoup as much as we can for him.
Poulsen though ? The knacker's yard for him....

Also Lucas is young so he has time on his side which has helped as he looks very settled now. Poulsen is already old as it is and will only be winding down even more now. How long exactly does Roy expect to give him?
