If the asking price is £4m then that would be good business. Not a long term solution but he is an experienced professional.

as I said in the other thread Idont think there's anything in this tbh...

Poulsen agent denies Reds link

Christian Poulsen has not received any contact about a possible move to Liverpool, according to the player's agent.

The Danish international has long been linked with a transfer to Merseyside, where he could be used as a possible replacement for Javier Mascherano.

Mascherano has requested to leave Anfield, with Inter Milan his likely destination, and Poulsen is rumoured to be available to leave Juventus after failing to hold down a regular first-team spot.

"I've also read the voices on newspapers but I can't comment on the rumours," said Joern Bonnesen to Calciomercato.it.

"I have not heard from anyone from Liverpool.

"Juventus have not called me and I have not found it necessary to do it.

"How many chances does Poulsen have to leave Juventus? No comment."

I see Rafa was also a big fan....

4th August 2009:

Liverpool close on Poulsen

Juve midfielder targeted by Reds boss Benitez

Sky Sports News understands Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen.

Juve are open to the sale of the Denmark international and a number of sides have been linked with an interest in his services.

Premier League duo Fulham and Everton are among those clubs said to be admirers of the 29-year-old.

But it is believed that Rafa Benitez's Liverpool are in pole position to secure Poulsen's signature.

It is speculated that the Reds' move for Poulsen could be linked with Xabi Alonso's uncertain future, amid interest from Real Madrid

For a split second i thought we were about to sign Christian Purslow as our new midfielder! Then realised my mistake in glancing post titles too quick ???

Haven't really seen the player so I can't comment. I do know that he has struggled somewhat to hold a place down at Juventus though which worries me. I would have favoured a move for Deffour from Standard Liege, he's got a very bright future ahead of him and falls into that 22/23 age bracket.

I'm still FAR more concerned about us buying another forward. As far as i'm concerned we need to bring someone in immediately so they are in place for our first game of the season. I doubt Torres will be ready and I don't fancy us going into games against Arsenal and City with Ngog upfront. I hope Hodgson is as worried about this as I am.

2 years ago I loved that player and I know I mentioned him here.

But some of you comment reports about he passing his best... so I don't know.

Reckoning on BBC is he's coming as Woy's first "big money transfer" at £6m, paving the way for Mascherano to leave for a £20m profit. Bit worrying it is a 30+ year old, 31 in February.

The jury is out for me but he is an experienced campaigner who has played at the top level in Europe for years. I would welcome the signing of him as a squad player but I would want to see an additional (top class) CM come in.

Roy rates the guy so we have to trust his judgement. To date every thing Roy has done has to be applauded.

Haven't seen too much of him to be honest. If we can get him AND a new striker in place of Masch may be not too bad.

rummours are that we'll sell Masch and buy Poulson AND Flammini. That would pave the way to get shot of Lucas too.

But we still need a striker

Well it seems there is definately something to this rumour then. I must confess I know nothing whatsoever about the player, but hopefully he is good enough to come straight in and do a job. I guess the criteria must be that he is better than Lucas.
