I think we'd all take Owen back at the right price (i.e. what we sold him for) but it won't happen.

baros has a great work rate and will improve. however his control of a football is abysmal. that chance he blew in injury time where he forced himself wide and skied his shot summed it up for me.

Morientes = Class
Cisse = Unproven in preiership but consistent goalscorer
Pongolle = Good young gun
Baros = Cant pass, runs head down at all times, finishing horrendous lately

apparently there was an incident before the game, as reported in the mirror. baros was furious with raf's team selection - picking kewell instead of him for starting and had angry words with the coaching staff.

according to the mirror, now baros is planning to quit in the summer as this latest setback has left him unhappy with his role at the club. after his success at euro 2004 and owen's departure, baros has fought to become first choice this season. however, moro arrived, baros's form has dipped and rafa prefers the spaniard - and, apparently, even injury-jinxed kewell. just did not feel he deserved that.

fiorentina and possible villa are interested in his service.

Both Fiorentina and Villa lack the financial funds to buy Baros.

we could do business possibly in the region of 15m? If the right price comes in for baros, we should cash in. I have never seen baros as one who would think twice about jumping ship. he's just too individualistic, on and off pitch. could offer a swop deal including swp + 2-3mil! we may need to be on the look out for a striker for next season tho - missing a piece in the quartet: moro-cisse-pongolle-? :Oo:

Villa nor Fireontina can't afford 15 million. Baros plus two million for SWP? Not going to happen, he won't go to Man City.

Then he's got to learn to behave like a team player. Disappointment is one thing, escalating situations when the team needs solidarity most is another! Some footballers just simply have to learn to say things when it matters most and learn to shut up when it matters least! SG included  :p

I'm amazed people think Baros is worth less than SWP. Baros top scorer in Euro 04 and SWP looked terrible in his 1 cap.

Baros MUST stay and LFC MUST play with two strikers. I'd have Baros and Morientes start, Cisse (when fit) and Pongolle on bench.

baros = swp + 2-3mil. hope this equation works for you.
the question is perhps not hinging on who is better, there is never a direct comparison, its a striker against a winger. the decision, if it comes to that, is based on the needs of the squad and on the player's outlook.

there is definitely a need to address the right mid situ. nunez wont do. swp could provide that, he's young and on the up, scored 9 goals from midfield, does well in the league (must be our priority isnt it?) and well, he's english for a change (thinking uefa).

if baros is doing a 'play-me-or-i'm-off', i just don't think he's team enough to be part of the future. he has to recognise that a team going places needs a big squad and nobody is gonna play all the time! sure, he is entitled to have his own agenda, but if it serves the team not, then he packs, simple as that. don't get me wrong, he is a proven pro who plays his socks off, i love that. but nobody is bigger than the team!

That equation works for me, it was the following post which made me think SWP valued more.

Trud, if Baros DEMANDS to start then he should be sold. SWP might be a solution on the right, better than Smicer anyway.
