Hope we take the positive result against fulham to deportivo.
I don't wanna ginx the team by predicting the score, but we have to win, if we wanna qualify for the next round. I would be very happy with a scrappy win.

BENITEZ WARNS OF DEPORTIVO DANGER
Mark Platt 17 October 2004

Rafael Benitez believes an ageing Deportivo La Coruna side still have enough talent to cause the Reds problems when the two sides go head to head in the Champions League this week.
By their recent high standards, last years semi-finalists have endured a slow start to this season, despite recently beating Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

But their side is vastly experienced when it comes to competing in the Champions League.

From his time in charge of Valencia Benitez knows all about the likes of Juan Carlos Valeron, Mauro Silva, Diego Tristan, Enrique Romero, Cesar and veteran captain Fran, and he won't fall into the trap of underestimating them.

"The problem is they have almost the same players and the same manager for seven years," explains Rafa. "It's difficult if you don't change a lot.

"They have a very good team but didn't play so well (recently) because two or three important players have been injured, like Mauro Silva and (Aldo) Duscher.

"They play combination passes, two against one, three against two, but can also play long passes to (Alberto) Luque on the left side, who's quick."
