You mean, like, "add-ons"  ???

Touche , im guessing everyone else but you will wait more than 70 mins of football before judging him a failure .

mick btw we havent yet paid 20 million for aquaman we have paid 5 million or less, the rest which would touch the 18 mill mark is made up on goals, appearances etc etc.

By the end of the season we would of paid 15 mil for Aquilani the rest is add ons .

Fair enough mate, let us know when you've come to a decision  :;):

Benny is still trying to decide if Dalglish was a success or not Mick, so you may have a long wait.  :D

Aurelio fans weren't thick on the ground when he first played, I was alone on the "ball watch" lookout for Skrtel way back when, I was fairly unequivical that Moreintes wouldn't make it early in the piece and explained why, ditto Cisse and I wasn't a million miles out on Johnson. I only needed to see Dossena play for about half an hour to be fairly sure which way that was going to go, so it's not all bad.

Just to reiterate with aquilani, I think he's a good player. I think he'll do OK for us if we can find a role for him, but he ain't an 18-20 million quid midifelder I don't think.

Chrimbo present in the post for you, mate. :D

Can you pat others on the head with that one too?  :D

It's a good piece of kit. If you turn the shoulder attachment upside down you can knock people in the b0ll0cks when they're talking sh!t   :D

Is that so you can scratch your own balls with it!? :p

With any new player, especially one from abroad (particularly one who's coming back from such an injury) I think you (at least i do) spend the first few games a/ hoping they can settle in and get up to speed and, b/ show you a thing or two that marks them out as a player. It might just be a turn here, or a bit of vision there. Now I didn't see the game last night so I can't comment on his tackling, or his efforts to press the ball etc but I did see a few things in his highlight reel yesterday, and in his cameo against Arsenal to suggest he could be good. Saying that, I think most of us can see that Babel has a bit about him when he's in the mood, but he has (ultimately) been a complete bust.

Give the guy time, judge him after he starts at least 20 games.

Well he hasnt started a match in over 6 months.. i would say its understandable if he fades away as the match goes on at this time.

bigmick wrote:Well after seeing Alberto for the first time in a fullish game, I'm going to go out on a limb given the fact he clearly wasn't fit (I wonder why :D) and say I was disappointed in his contribution. A couple of people have described him as being a "floater" and that's all good, but you've still got to have the determination to influence the play. For me he didn't do enough, didn't attempt enough, and didn't want it enough. I thought defensively he was absolutely powder puff, and I couldn't work out exactly what sort of player he is.

Based on that, I'm going to go out on a limb totally and say I don't think he'll be a good signing for us for 18-20 million quid. Early I know after one half fit performance, but that's what I think anyway. My money's on him going back to Italy at the end of next season.

I still remember quite clearly your early read on Lucas, mate.  I think the phrases "he's got a bit about him," "lovely the way he ghosts into space" and (my favourite!) "he's all 360 degree looks" were sprinkled liberally through those early, rather sanguine assessments.  You'll forgive me, then, if I don't put too much stock in this early stab in the dark.  :D

Yes but you only remember from the so called "official" threads, there are also the unofficial ones.

For instance there it is my prediction on Torres   :D, and then you have this Kuyt early impressions thread, which is pure kwality, when you look at it from here.

Early Classic Impressions on Kuyt.
