I consider myself to be, as some of you either knew or deduced, a Jedi. Not in the sense that I woship Yoda or spend hours practising my mind trick (I'd be so much richer if that really worked :D  ). I just like the idea of it. There are worse religions and religious influences and if I'm honest, I don't always declare myself to be Jedi, but I respect the principles which are not ficticious. The force is a good metaphor for the nature of the universe and all being a Jedi is about is intelligence, acceptance, and being understanding. I don't dress in robes, I don't worship the films and I don't send millions of letters to George Lucas (well... not quite a million yet :D  ). Basically, its just about being cool to one another and the way the world is today, that's no bad thing.

People around where I went to Uni knew about my leanings toward "yoda-ism" (as the put it) and jokes were made and it just became a thing that no-one really cared about. But one day, this guy was in the street selling L. Ron Hubbard books and while I was having a look at one (while ignoring his pitch) one of my friends told him jokingly that I was a Jedi. The look on his face was hilarious. He actually recoiled! I was only looking at his book because I was interested in it in the same way I'm interested in Bizarre magazine (i.e. it being a bit weird) but he thought it was now his job to try and convert me. He started coming up to the union and trying to talk to me, telling me that I was believing in foolish things (because obviously him and his invisible aliens were just being down to earth!). He gave up eventually, but I started looking into it just because I'm fasinated but weird. To my horror/delight it turned out that they were real funkin fruit loops.

If you want to be one, you'll need money and lots of it if you want to find out how many little aliens are with you (or in you, or something) and you have to denounce every other religion as heretical. I'm sorry if any scientologists are reading this (well, not really) but it is a cult, and it is a con. yeah, they send aid workers around the world, but while they are pulling people out of the rubble of a landslide they have to preach to them and keep a stock of fresh L. Ron books at hand. And by the way, if any scientologist wants to slag me off for following the ideals but forward in Star Wars, I say this: I'd rather follow a concept thought up by a successful sci-fi writer, than follow a religion thought up by a failed one. being a Jedi is a) too cool for school (cue sarcastic comments) and b) just a philosophy about being nice to people. Don't worry, I'm not trying to convert you, partly because there is nothing to convert you to, but also because to me, religion and ethics don't really bother me as long as they lead to something good, and that is where Scientology falls down.

So, basically, if you have millions of dollars, a desire to be brainwashed, a fascination with Tom Cruise and no life, you may as well be a scientologist. I suppose I should call them "The Sith" really but if you know one and you don't like it (and you won't) send him over to the light side of the force. I have to go now and inform some stormtroopers that these aren't the droids that they are looking for.
:D

I know a few lads who ticked 'jedi' in the last census in 2001, thought it would be a bit of a laugh!

We should have a Jedi Prime Minister, any wars, there's no messing.

scientology is no worse than any other soc alled cult, maybe a lil better.

i used to work at threshers, and got asked out by this nice lass to go to church with her one sunday (yes, a church date) but she was fit so i went along. turned out it was the church of christ, there biggest church and meeting was happening that day.

so i found out that as i smoked that was it, i was off to hell, my parents too. some woman was screaming that her child had died after 2 weeks and would be in hell as was not baptised or something, but she was happy because shed be in heaven. oh meat eaters as well, off to hell...

so scientology not that bad, and panorama dont know how to make a documentary anymore, look sta the sam allardyce fiasco.

its just an applied religious philosophy. let them have it, doesnt matter what your faith is, as long as you have faith as far as im concerned

Churches have condemned Super Casinos, saying gambling offers a false hope to the impoverished......people who should instead be putting their faith in a shiny bearded man who lives on a cloud.

the funniest thing is how many charities make money thanks to the lottery and gambling firms who try to ease guilt by giving away so much.

there will always be gambling, drinking, smoking, whatever. if u dont hurt anyone then who cares?
