True, but life should be about picking your battles. I personally have drawn a line under what Judge said, it was offensive but life goes on. That's not bothers me, what bothers me is people who don't really understand what they are talking about telling me to 'grow a pair' or stop acting the 'eejit' and invariably on this forum that tends to be Dawson. I think he uses this forum as an outlet for his Dawsony fantasies and says stuff here that in no way would he dare to do in real life.

Its a pity, because Dawson used to be awesome.

Right i'm not trying to stir the here honest but here in Liverpool a pikey is not irish , it's a traveller and not a gypsy either . An Irish traveller or gypsy is a tinker , and as far as i'm concerned i fookin hate pikey's . I don't hate the irish and i don't hate tinkers or gypsy's i hate pikey's .There i feel better for that. No offense i hope. Unless you are a pikey , then do one .

I take your point Neil. My philosophy on forum posting (and life in general) is that if the discussion is about something I don't understand then I keep schtum. If there is a row between two people and my interests aren't directly affected I keep out of it. I was annoyed with Dawson because he didn't/doesn't understand what he was talking about, and was/is keeping the row going because he's a bored internet nerd with no meaningful outlet in his real life for his nervous energy. 

Anyway, this has become all very silly, I've made my point, lets forget about it and get on with things.

I tell you what: walk down any street in Ireland and call someone you meet a 'pikey' and see what happens.

Well, probably nothing will happen if you said it to an average Irish person, cos over here the word "Pikey" doesn't really carry the same weight as it does in England.

"Pikey" is a very Old English term.

You can't call an irishman a pikey, we take real bad offense by that. Call us anything else you like but not that. I fully agree with what JBG is saying here and I'm someone called me pickey I would react.

I know some people think all this isn't a big deal but do you think calling a black man a n****r okay? So why should it be okay to call an irishman a picky if we take it as bad as that?
