they might, but you and me won't be alive to see it. :D

Maybe, but i'm not sure if England can do this at the same period

And Turkey too..We missed the chance in 2002 and it will never come again  :D

England probly wont win a major cham'ships for quite a few years and maybe even after ireland do.they have the best selection of players available to any country. if ya look at the first team there is no weakness. but they get bombarded wit pressure from the media and if a player makes a mistake they will be slagged off for the rest of their lives or at least til they make amends(this is disgrace ful at times). this happened wit beckham in 98, seamen against brazil, gerrard last year, stuart pearce, peter shilton against argentina etc...

On the other hand, ireland, its fans, and media are happy with just qualification and anyything else is a bonus which means we've nothing to loose in the finals of major tournaments. also we've shown we can match the best teams in the world(france, brazil, spain, czech rep., germany, portugal, holland, italy).

Our best players are all  100% Irish.
They all have irish roots
If it wasn't for history (lets not get into it) they'd all be 100% Irish now.

How come a country as big as England needed Dorigo, John Barnes, Linford Christie, Zola Budd etc to fly their flag.

It pisses England off that ireland are fairly good (not great but good) a settled team/system etc does a lot. Roy Keane would ****** on anyone in the England team.

For a country of 4million our Football and Rugby team isn't bad especially when you consider that Gaelic games is the number one sport in the country - football is your countries first sport.

BTW - I don't chear for England's opposition,

well said big niall. england also are represented by foreigners. just look at owen hargreaves, he plays for england for the same reason as any players chose ireland over their native countries

I watched the game against France, and I was so impressed by Irelands level, the passing was excellent

100% agree. Our population is a tiny fraction of Englands and we have a decent team. Some of the players would walk onto the english team. Duff (100% Irish) and Roy Keane (100% Irish).
Soccer is basically the third sport over here after the two GAA disicplnes (Hurling and Football) So we aren't doing too bad.

I don't cheer for englands opposition but don't cheer for England either

Republic of Ireland is the only internation team i will cheer for

Bad result against Israel. Only caught the second half as was at a hurling match. France not beating Switzerland helped us a bit though. I fancy our chances against them at Landsdowne

i dunno, you look lightweight at centre half and i think henry will cause you problems.
keane was a great player but he wouldnt get into englands midfield now, gerrard and lampard have more mobility and a better range of passing than keane. he had a little indian summer around the time united played us but before that he had been quiet for two seasons and was bemoaning his form himself - even talking of retirement. he`s been quiet since too.
i`d have duff though, and givens probably better than robinson.
population isnt always the answer, new zealand in rugby have shown for a hundred years if you have the right coaching and infastructure its not always down to numbers.
