But what would be the point of selling him now?
Every potential buyer sits in the same situation with Suarez if they buy him.
Which means we will get nowhere near full value for him. Forget 70-80 million, more like 30-50 then.

I'd say no way, the team is in no shape to throw in some third rate replacements. All the names mentioned are way off, Sanchez has never mentioned wanting to leave Barca to my knowledge.
Do what you have to, psychologists, a muzzle, drugs, whatever it takes... you keep your best players.
He can still return, play the rest of the season and be top scorer again.
You are right he can return, but fact is he will miss nearly a quarter of the league campaign.
What if he does it again?
Totally agree. What's the point of having a world class striker if he's banned for half the time?
Alas, for me, this lad has blown it. Yes, he's a great player, but he's an awful person and the sooner he's gone the better.
red till i die!! » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:51 pm wrote:Luis Suarez could earn £40million playing for Barcelona - but only if he agrees to a special 'bite clause'.
The Spanish side are offering the Liverpool striker a five-year deal worth £160,000 a week to move to the Nou Camp.
But Barcelona chiefs are insisting that the contract contains special clauses to ensure that he behaves well both on and off the pitch.
Suarez has already been banned by FIFA for fourth months after his World Cup shame which saw him bite Italy defender Georgio Chiellini . It is the third time he has bitten an opponent in his career.
Barcelona are anxious to ensure that he behaves well - and also recognise they will need to appease some of their supporters.
Liverpool are demanding £80m while Barcelona only want to pay £50m total, which could include Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez as a £30m makeweight in the deal.
Barcelona will also back Suarez in his battle to fight the ban or have it reduced. Suarez is believed to be ready to hire top lawyer Juan De Dios Crespo who is a specialist in sporting cases.
Suarez, who maintains his innocence and claims it was an accidental clash after he lost balance, is ready to take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.

his ban is going to get overturnedonly a matter of time imo.
if we are resigned to losing him then it should be on our terms and not whatever barca think they can offer us. it has to be 50 mil + sanchez or we are being rode. if sanchez isnt interested then they stump up the full 80 million or he stays whether he likes it or not.

You keep your best players but....I am not so sure now how much more of this the club can put up with.
If Barcelona put in a big bid, personally I wouldn't be that sad if he were sold and we moved on. He is a world class player but we can't go on like this.
Kewell mate you tried to convince everybody last summer that the best thing to do was to sell him for £40m !! Well that plan really would have worked wouldn't it?
Awful person????? Yes he has had done some stupid things on a football pitch but do you really think he falls into a similar category as the likes of Adolph Hitler. Bit of a silly comment.
Banned half the time????? Why bother with accurately reporting the facts for the sake of a good story.
You sound like our gutter press to be honest. During the 2013/14 season Luis's behaviour has been impeccable both on and off the pitch. Mind you his behaviour off the pitch, not like some of the really nasty fkrs in the game, has always been excellent. He makes one stupid mistake. The street fighter and the will to win got the better of him. As a result you want him binned. My fear is that if committed one of these misdemeanours again he would receive a lifetime ban such is the level of idiotic punishment being attributed to his offence. The media coverage is unprecedented. Why is biting regarded as so much worse than stamping on a players ankle in a game where morality is a thing of the past? He received a 7 match ban the first time he had a nibble on somebody. That was ridiculously harsh to say the least. He is no angel but he does not deserve the absurd amount of garbage that is being thrown at him. I find it a shame mate that even after what Luis did for us last season you still, as a Liverpool fan, feel it necessary to castigate him.

Suarez has play 100 games for us, yet with this new ban he will have missed 27 through suspension. You hear that, 27 games in three seasons. It’s insane. Even Vinnie Jones would struggle to notch up that many bans.
But, you’re right, I did call for us to offload him last summer, because he was being a class A tw@t. Even BR said publicly that Suarez had shown a “total disrespect” for LFC. But as you say, he said sorry and concentrated on his football and proved he is a world class talent. Don’t get me wrong, he IS WORLD CLASS and has the potential to be one of the greatest strikers of all time. But that’s not the issue here, is it?
You say he makes ONE stupid mistake and everyone jumps on him…but it isn’t just the ONE mistake, is it? This is the THIRD time he’s bitten someone and what happens if he does it again? Will he get a 1 year ban? 2 years? Lifetime? I really have no confidence that Suarez will not do this (or something else, stupid) again. Then what? Our season will be written off with our best player banned and deemed financially worthless. Why take the risk?
I say he's worth 70-80 million and I say we sell if someone pays that. Nothing less.
