"Now, with Daniel we are trying our best and we can improve. Maybe in a few years I will be able to say my best partnership was with Daniel Sturridge, especially if we can continue to progress."

A quote from Suarez on the Official site, Talking about his partnership with Sturridge

Sounds good, wish I could believe it.

Why do I doubt it ?

Luis says "Maybe in a few years I will be able to say my best partnership was with Daniel Sturridge"

1, Maybe in anybody's language that's sitting on the fence
2, " my best partnership was"  "WAS" ? past tense. As much as we admire his ability the fella clearly imo isn't committed to LFC.

Come the January window if Real Madrid come in with a £40 million + offer how many of you truly believe he wouldn't agitate for the move ?

Love his skill BUT maybe it's time to take the money and invest in someone who really wants to be here.

A bit harsh, especially when you consider he's hardly a fluent English speaker.

£40,000,000 though Woof?

Really? Can you name me a player we would be able to replace him with for that sort of money?

The thought of Rodgers wasting yet more money is a major worry for me.

Borini
Sahko
Allen
Aspas
Alberto
Mignolet

Thats a good £60,000,000 spent on players who aren't upto it or at least aren't an improvement on what we already had.

Possibly, but can't say when I read that the same things weren't going through my head... because they were.

Harsh ?

In what respect ? He may have been misinterpreted ?

F'ucks sake SCS wake up and smell the coffee. I love the fella to pieces as far as his footballing ability is concerned but let's not be daft , Luis Suarez wouldn't think twice about moving to Real Madrid if they put in an acceptable offer.

Luis Suarez plays for Luis Suarez. Sorry if that upsets you (it upsets me) but bottom line is, it's the truth.

Don't know the details of his contract Stu, all I'm saying is that if Madrid met the asking price I reckon Suarez would offer to pay for the plane that would fly him to Spain.

I like the stance we took with the player in the summer to be honest. I'm hopeful more than expectant, that we if we can get into the champions league he'll agree to stay.

I am also hopeful IF we're in and around where we are come January that will be enough to keep him content.

I do agree however that come the summer if he wants to leave then I think we should let him go, I maintain what I said though about a player exchance. Madrid have players that would improve our side and aren't playing week in week out, for me two of those plus a decent fee is what we should be looknig for.

Bollox to that.

I want players that CHOOSE to be here !

Not some cast off's who came to us because their club gave them the elbow.  :kungfu:

Depends on who the players are though Woof. Swapping Suarez for Benzema and Modric plus 20mil would be a cracking deal

With respects to being picky with the language he uses. He's been learning English for 2 years now, non-native English speakers frequently have bad grammar and sentence structure.

Picking him on 'was' instead or 'is' - is harsh in my book. If it was Gerrard saying it then I could justify reading into his use of words but not someone who speaks just enough English to get by in front of the media and some of his English colleagues. He probably speaks Spanish more than English, even when living here.

Whilst I agree that he is a selfish player who is looking out for his own interests, the league is hardly short of them. In fact I challenge you to find players who are loyal to a club when their own ambitions aren't being met.

Think that's about spot on.

Suarez didn't stay because he wanted to stay IMO - he stayed because no one bid for him. Had we accepted a bid he would have gone and in Jan it's a possibility it could start again. In the summer I think he will go regardless of what we do

I really don't think Suarez is more or less selfish than most other top flight sports people. Agents play a massive part and that should not simply be dismissed. Clubs paint a very rosie picture to persuade top players to join and on many occasions the clubs probably don't fulfil their overblown promises. Arsenal lost Van Persie and Fabregas and that was partly down to their lack of footballing ambition. With some additional investment they could have been serious title challengers for many years. Top players will stay at top clubs. Does Ronaldo ever threaten to leave Real Madrid? Does Messi or  in fact half the Barca team ever threaten to leave? Clubs have an equal responsibility to ensure that players are motivated and content.
