Have you seen the size of our wage bill.

Did you mind paying Torres over a 100 grand a week when he was slamming in the goals for us or giving Gerrard over 100 grand a week ? You can't say "forget" the 120k we are giving Suarez.

Players get the big wages because they produce the goods for their team.

Teams pay the big money for the best players - guess what we did during the 70's and 80's - paid the transfer fees and the biggest wages.

Every team "buys" success

You still haven't quite got there have you Benny ? It's such a shame but keep trying

Benny, mate, you really are missing devaney's point. It's one thing paying 23 mil in transfer fee and 120k in wages for your best player (while he was on 40k and 80k before that), but paying 30 mil in transfer fee and 200k in wages for Nasri while he sits on the bench is really a different thing. Of course you need money to get players and win things, it's not like us newkitters can collect a few quid and challenge for the Premier League title, but the question is; do you really need THAT much money?

To do it quickly the yes you do that much money as witnessed by both City and Chelsea - they wanted success quickly and then to build on it.

City buying players like Nasri won them the prem - it's a shitty thing but its the way it goes now.

You finally concede that it's a shitty thing! That is a massive step down from your previous spoiled brat approach demanding rich owners because we are having to shop at Aldi instead of Selfridges for our groceries. The simple fact is that you are adamant that we must become part of that shitty thing if we are going to win the title. Not a pleasant thought and not one that I will commit to. Bring Suarez into this debate is somewhat left field even by your somewhat desperate standards.

and that is why ticket prices keep going up and up so that these pampered spoilt ***** can prance about on a football pitch. It is completely obscene how much these players make and there needs to be some sort of salary cap introduced by FIFA otherwise pretty soon the average man in the street will not be able to afford the price of a ticket.

I haven't stated once that it isn't a shitty thing

But it's needed to win the prem and I want it win the prem. I also haven't demanded anything.

You haven't yet told us about another way that is proven to win the title.

Ill tell you now that Suarez wouldn't mind world class players to play alongside and if we aren't in the CL soon then we will lose Suarez to one of those clubs that have the money.

pathetic "analysis" by MOTD2 tonight. focussing on his negatives whilst completely ignoring bale's theatrics and the twattish behaviour of dembele and parker. the agenda is beyond a joke.

I don't know what it is about the UK journos but the report in the paper over here today was the other way round, talking about Suarez getting nothing from the ref for a number of fouls and then stating that as Bale was getting protected by the ref for two inncocuous challenges and soft free-kicks that led to their goals. Its a xenephobic thing, british players can do no wrong (unless you are Joey Barton)

I know what you are saying about MOTD but I thought it was a balanced review of Luis's performance on that occasion. They were incredibly complimentary and they simply highlighted what a pest he can be. Didn't see a lot wrong with the review to be honest. Yes they could have said more about Bale's antics but he wasn't MOTM.

apparently luis has given an interview to a south american paper in which he says he would be open to offers from clubs in the CL.
ian ayre was on the bbc this morning discussing our womens team and he dismissed the article saying luis has a contract here and we expect him to honour it.
hmm  ??? ....not a good sign if you ask me.
it`s going to be a long summer...

Worrying indeed but it all depends on the translation and what question was asked.

If Luis was asked "If Liverpool accepted an offer for you from a CL side would you go?" then it's not a big problem for me (still a worry though), if he was simply asked "Are you happy at Liverpool?" then it's more of a worry cause he is clearly looking at his situation and Liverpool's and is seeing himself away from LFC.

It's an international break and we seem to get some of this ***** every time he goes home, my biggest problem is wishing he'd stop giving these flaming interviews!!

If we get a silly offer I think he will go. But I don't think Bayern or Juve could afford that. In any case this should be a wakeup call to John Henry to start showing some ambition or watch our best player walk out the door.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
