I thought England played well.

A draw was definitely the fair result, the french had the better of posession as was expected but England where a threat on the break.

The referee i thought was poor, Cabaye should have been booked for persistent fouling in the first half and the amount of little decisions the referee got consistently wrong was baffling.
The foul on Gerrard on the edge of the box, Johnson and Oxlade Chamberlain being barged over and no free kick, the same thing happens to Ribery and straight away he blows ?

On Ribery he is a top player but one of the most horrible little cheating cnts i have watched.
Did it all season in the champions league and again today.

Gerrard was class today, carried Parker who i dont see what all of the fuss is about.
He is constantly on the floor due to his lack of mobility pace and fitness.
He throws his body in the way of one shot after having an awful game and being fecked after half an hour and gets praised to the hilt.
Id have Milner in the centre with Gerrard and put a proper player out wide personally.

Watching the Sweden Ukraine game now and these dont look great.

England might actually get out of the group if they perform like they did today in the other 2 games.

It makes me laugh how many people have given England no chance.

We are without the egos, something I have wanted for a long time. No Beckham, no Lampard, no Ferdinand, no Rooney for the first couple of games. Slap in the bonus of no "over-rated" Barry and what we are left with is a squad of players who actually are willing to perform for the country rather than boost their own profile.

Roy Hodgson made a brilliant decision of choosing Oxlade Chamberlain, something no other manager would even dare in fear of upsetting the media. His decision also to leave out Ferdinand is another brilliant decision. He is a walking sick note, he shouldn't be near the national team.

We have a better chance of winning this competition than we have in recent years as we have players who are willing to work for each other, and not to increase their own ego.

I enjoyed the France game. It was a good honest performance from the players, with a good honest captain leading them.

People give England no chance because England will never win a major tournament until they learn how to keep hold of the football and until they show a hunger and desire to score as many goals as possible.

England always invite pressure on themselves, they allow the opposition to play and as a result they conceded a goal yesterday. England showed France too much respect. They allowed the likes of Evra, Ribery, Nasri and Benzema room to play.

All credit to England, it was a dogged performance, but what I am happy with is that Hodgson and Gerrard are looking for room for improvement, 'it's something to build on', this is positivity I wouldn't usually associate with England, but they'll need to improve drastically in the QF because they'll meet either Spain or Italy.

The England match yesterday reminded me of why I am so happy that Hodgson isn't our manager.  Very few attempts on target, very little possession of the ball, 2 banks of 4 camped just outside the 18 yard box... 

Of course a draw is a very good result for England.  I just wonder how England will cope against the "lesser" teams when England will be expected to do something with the ball.

England miss Wayne Rooney. Rooney just behind Welbeck with Young out on the left with Walcott on the right will see England create a lot more chances.

I don't think Roy will ever set up like that though.  He generally favours playing central players out wide as opposed to playing wingers.
Its a very defensive system he plays with the wide players expected to provide defensive cover and fit into the 2 banks of 4 philosophy that he has.

I wouldn't expect England to be too much more adventurous against Sweden or Ukraine.  Could be a repeat of the Liverpool Blackpool game the season before last.

When he managed us, even the lesser sides dominated possesion like France did yesterday.

I thought they did well last night and was disappointed the way they sat back after scoring, they just invited France to dominate possession, I don't however agree with some statements that this is the best England can play or we dont have the ability. The issue is RH can make us difficult to beat but his rigid formations and tactics stifle ability and knackers the player out running around after shadows, he needs to loosen the leash and let them play otherwise by the Ukraine game they will be dead on their feet.

I thought Jonno had a great game, he was by far our best defender.

It's evident that England need more creativity after only making 2 chances against France in an half-and-a-half's worth of football. Surely Hodgson isn't an idiot and will see that while England's defensive play was good up to a point, that offensively England were very weak yesterday.

thats the thing for me, the way hodgson sets his team`s up the midfield spend most of the game chasing the ball and in the last 15 minutes of yesterdays game gerrard and parker were out on their feet. they were f**ked, gerrard walked more distance than he ran in the final few minutes. milner and welbeck were the same, they were absolutely f**king wiped out.
in these tournaments the games come thick and fast,  you have a game every 3 days on average so after a fortnight of this even if england do manage to get out of the group they arent going to be in any fit state to take on a talented side in the quarters.
the england players come into this tournament on the back of 9 demanding months of premier league footy and now they are expected to run half marathons every 3 days in the middle of june? unless england start keeping the ball more and make the opposition do some running they wont last long in this tournament imo.
