SPain seem to have went into this rather unnoticed on my end, the Germans seem the most popular choice by a distance

Seriously, how good was Croatia's Rakitic earlier ....Most impressive player I have seen at these Euro's ,would love to see him in a red shirt next
season ,because his movement and poise on the ball coupled with some majestic passing has been the highlight of this tournament for me .

Totally put Modric in the shade in terms of looking genuine class .

People are still wax lyrical about the Spain team, the good news for Spain is like the Germans they haven't hit the high gears yet and yet look comfortable. I'd fully expect Spain to beat Croatia and Italy to beat Ireland.

As for Germany, they are always contenders, but whether they win the competition or not is anyone's guess and in fairness this is one of the only tournaments since perhaps Euro 96 where a large percentage of football fans have been wax lyrical with the German national team. In reality the Germans are always going to be contenders, no matter what. However with this current team they do look like a nation state capable of adding European and World Cup's to their cabinet. The quality of their first team and their overall squad is something to marvel. The Germans for the first time in a long time have a real strength in depth.

We'll see at the end of the tournament, no team is unbeatable. Spain are one of the best sides in the world, but this whole "Spain cannot be defeated", "Spain are automatically winners of every major competition before a ball has been kicked" attitude makes me sick.

I hope and I pray that the Germans smash them to pieces, I get more enjoyment watching the Germans perform than the Spanish. The Germans would turn up to a scrap yard to play football, the Spanish would turn up look at the concrete pitch and whinge and whine about how they cannot play their pass-pass-pass-goal football.

I watch Barcelona play and after a while I find them boring, the same with Spain. I'm not saying they don't play great football, but it's the samething every match and it doesn't help when countries like Ireland just roll over in the 3rd minute against Spain, but then that's you Irish all over isn't it?

thought the irish fans yesterday were magnificent, the fields of athenrye at the end when they were down 4-0 was boss, shades of halftime at instanbul.
contrast that with the scene`s when england exited the last world cup with fans booing the team and rooney having a go at the fans as he walked off the pitch.

Walcott should take Milners place.

that was some header by the big fella, it was a real throwback to the days of tommy lawton and nat lofthouse. england made hard work of it but they got the result in the end and in tournament football that`s all that matters. terrible keeping by the swedish goalie for walcotts goal though, it was just a speculative effort that should have been a routine save, f##king awful keeping.

Who cares? we won !

For so long watching England has been boring as sin as its the usual tripe in the starting line up, but this tournament has me fascinated, with regards to England. When we went 2-1 down I was genuinely gutted, normally im laughing, but not tonight. So when we won it was a relief. Get rid of Terry and we have a very good future regarding our national team.
