Messi is now the third highest scorer in Barcelona's history with only Cesar Rodriguez (235) and Laszlo Kubala (196) ahead of his tally of 178.

"At 23 he's the third leading scorer in club history. That's incredible," Guardiola said.

Well it was Messi's brilliance that won this game but i tell ya what, I wouldn't have Alonso, Ronaldo or Mouriniho anywhere near our club. And as for that dirty ku.nt Adabayor - he needs tw@tting too.

wow. If he was to repeat this season's scoring record next season he could over take Rodriguez, and be Barcelonas highest scorer... at the age of 24   :oh:

what did Alonso do wrong? the Barcelona players are to be blamed. they graduated from Catalonia School of Dance and even Mascherano has attained his diploma from them. their players surrounded the referee like a pack of vampires wanting to suck Pepe's blood if he didn't see red. they are such a shameless team even off the field when you have Xavi and Villa telling other players that they should be playing in their club. and Pique...i don't know what Shakira sees in him!

Let's not forget that Madrid players are far from innocent - Di Maria and Ronaldo going down very easily - Marcelo with his little stamp on Pedro , Pepe with his shocking tackles over the last 3 games , Arbeloa the same .

Chuffed to bits Barca won. They match up very well against the mancs where as i fancy the manc would turn Madrid over in the final. To beat Barca you need to be able to play the spoiler like Inter did last year and Maureen tried to do it last night. the mancs can't really play that way even though they've been a bit more conservative this year.

Also, maureen behaved like a spoilt brat in his press conference after the game. No doubt he's a great manager but he's got no class whatsoever and i'd be completely embarassed if our manager behaved like that no matter what had gone on before.

Maureen is EVERYTHING that is wrong with football. Only he could make one of the best attacking teams in world football look like they did last night. Barcfa are not guilt free, but at least they tried to actually play football.

I could not be happier we dont have that slimy excuse for a man maureen as as our manager. Never known a worse loser, with less plan bs than general Custer.

The game last night was possibly the worst advert for football in a long time though, and half the players should be banned for diving. Once retrospective bans come into effect the world will be a better place.

Missed all the post-game nonsense but the game itself was a farce.  It was played at a virtual stand-still for long stretches, with Barca content to keep possession with no intent to really attack and Madrid content to stand off them and let them knock it back and forth.  Whenever there was any minimal contact players on both sides invariably hit the deck like the proverbial ton of bricks.  Busquets and Di Maria were the worst offenders but they were all at it.  As usual, the continental reffing standard meant that every foul was a card and the sending off was a joke.  That said, I was not displeased to see Jose fall victim to another team surrounding the ref and demanding a red card...a gambit his Chelsea side made famous.

So, these semi-final ties both seem done and dusted.  As distasteful as I now find Barca's approach, I'll obviously still back them to turn the Mancs over.  I expect Scholes will get himself sent off inside of five minutes against this lot. :D
