buy becks - should we buy beckham

£25m for Beckham - way too much for the old one trick pony. He can cross with, as I recall, less accuracy than others (less than 30% which is pretty poor considering his reputation) and his free kicks are glorious when they go in but rarely on target otherwise. His reputation dictates his price tag, there are better players with lesser reputations out there who are worth more. I reckon our very own Gerrard can match him in most departments (bar possibly free kicks)

Scholes is a better player for one.Beckham disrupts everyone elses game by charging around the field like a f****n schoolboy.Fergie was spot-on getting rid.

Spot on again ....... Beckham is more about Marketing Potential for a Club  - that's his real worth .. Scum Utd had exploited to the max .... Real will use it as a battering ram into Asia .... sad as it is .. that's modern "big money" football.

100% agree. I think England play better without Beckham. I'd have Scholes, Gerrard, Owen and Campbell in the side before Beckham. Beckham gives 100% but there is no I in team. As for getting rid, rvn, Ferdinand, Scholes and Giggs are more important players in the mancs team IMO

I think that's totally unfair comment on Beckham and I for one wouldn't want to go into any England game without him. Leaving Manure and the over-bearing, grudge-wielding dictatorship of Ferguson has been the making of him.

He is a world class footballer and an all round role model, it always astounds me the amount of stick he gets.....

I wonder how much stick he will get when the nation discovers he`s a taker not a giver ???

That story will be revealed in Gary Neville's autobiography,"I was the giver not the taker."

Apart from Owen there isn't one individual I rate that important to England. I only rate Owen that highly because noone is even close to being that good up front, every other area has some kind of adequate cover. Rooney may not be far off, but England look very average without Owen
