Personally I would like us to have a real go at Arsenal, they seem to have a few injuries themselves and players playing with knocks. We are at home and we are not really expected to get a result because of all our injuries. I think we should go after them and really surprise them, they will be expecting us to play for a draw with all out injuries so maybe they won't be fully mentally turned on.

It may surprise you but my team would be:

Finnan   Hyypia   Carragher   Riise

Partridge Alonso  Gerrard    Kewell

              Mellor  Pongolle

First of all I would like to explain Partridge. I think he is the type of winger who can keep a fullback occupied even if he isn’t playing that well. His inclusion could limit Ashley Cole's attacking influence in the game.

I would stick with Kewell as I think if we play Warnock we will carry no attacking threat down the left and they will start to push us deeper and deeper. Mellor and Pongolle are our only strikers on the moment and I would like them to be given a run until Baros gets back, and when I mean a run, they should play in every match and play more than an hour if possible.

Many of you may think that the team I suggested would get slaughtered, but I think the element of surprise may be what will get us three points on Sunday.

I would play Hamaan in midfield. I'd stick Biscan out on the right, not his position I know but its no-ones at the moment. Id stick with Mellor up front but would look to introduce Sinama during the match. I'd start with Kewell on the left with Warnock in reserve.

Igor and Riise were disapointing against Monaco, for different reasons.
Igor looked lost, didn't seem to have a role ! and Riise couldn't hardly make a worthwhile pass. But I guess we don't have too many options at left back, unless Carragher could go over there, but who would cover his slot ?  I guess beggers can't be choosers !!

You would put Alonso to shield back four instead of Hamann?

Put alonso on the right, biscan in centre and hamann shielding the back four. Swap mellor for pongolle..then I agree with the team

I know thats probably the most important area, but if this 11 where all at their best we could give most teams a good game. Trouble is they are painfully inconsistent right now and without a striker to bail them out they look like they are never going to shoot never mind score. The only guys you can rely on are Gerrard and Garragher. If the rest raise their level we should do ok. Its getting them to perform week in week out thats the problem.

Agreed, need a front player to make the formation work. Mellor showed against Monaco that he cannot play up top alone; he cannot hold the ball up and has not enough skill and composure for the role.

Perhaps we can stick Henchoz in defence and stick Sammi up front for Mellor or Pongolle to play off.. Some voices have called for Koller to be signed and Sammi is a better all round player. Sammie would give Campbell a run for his money and Mellor is a sniffer, more a poacher than anything else and pongolles pace would be good for any flick ons Hyppia wins..
