Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

 Arsenal really remind me of Maureen’s Chelsea. Very defensive, big physical defenders that harass the goalie’s and bundle/header the ball over the line. Up until the first goal it was relatively even against Villa. Then on a corner/set play they all go up and basically muscle the ball over the goal line, by bumping the goalie…not nice football to watch. So many times watching the old Chelsea they would do the same thing, end up winning 3-0 by basically muscling the ball over the line and the first to fall on the ground and hold their face when they get out muscled. Saka even looks like a cheap Hazzard, dribbling then falling over and getting the foul and Arteta will be as arrogant as Maureen was if he can actually win something. He also has the Maureen “everyone is against us” vibe because they basically were.

I think Maureen reinvented football as horrible as it was to watch. Pep reinvented football as did Klopp and they will be remembered, I don’t think Arteta adds any value to a team that has had over a billion spent on it. I’m hoping they will over heat with emotion as they usually do and fade towards the end of the season. If the PL would protect the goalies more from deliberate bumping and physical play they would not be top of the league, it’s their game and they have won a lot of matches because of it. It’s negative football and they get away with a lot. I’ve never seen Arteta smile so much as he is this season.

Mohamed Salah will remain at Liverpool beyond the January transfer window after a cooling of interest from Saudi Arabia

We need a winger and a central defender.

Do we have any money left after the summer splurge?

I don't know if I'd want him to splash any more money.

City would have outbid us on the fee and wages tbh so we probably ran a mile from it once we knew they where interested. Signing him would have pushed Rio down the pecking order as well which i would think was a no-no from hughes and edwards. Bournemouth probably wanted money up front as well compared to us paying through Klarna. Be interesting to see how he gets on tbh. Now id be cracking up if they follow that up with Guehi in a week or so.

Pearce is saying its gonna be a quiet window as we arent going to rush into quick fixes.

Red, I'm not sure playing a 17 year old is a good strategy, physically he's vulnerable as he's not fully mature. Fowler had his hip problem, Owen his hamstring etc.. a gentle introduction other the next 18 months yes, but thinking him as a front line player I believe is a short term counter productive strategy.

Just saying that I was reading the board wanted Slot to forge a pathway for him and Nyoni. Hes obviously not ready to be starting games but do think he should be getting the last 10 minutes in more games than he does. The lad in fairness has shown hes well able for that.

I see Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer, just wanted to wish my childhood hero all the best, he's criminally under rated at this club, people forget that when Kenny signed for us he joined the reigning English champions, the reigning European champions and a club 2 of the spawniest goals ever scored in an FA cup final away from doing the treble back in the days when doubles happened twice a century. Not only that the red number 7 shirt he inherited was already the most iconic shirt in english football throughout the 70's.

Very sad news about Kev, he’s before my time but strange how he’s not held such high esteem as other former pros.

Ok paper, he was world class for us.

Sad about Keegan, I hope he recovers well. He is the reason I am a Liverpool supporter as he was my first football hero. Had the pleasure of meeting him once as a kid and he signed a flag for me and was joking around with my brother and I. Top bloke!

I even bought the music record he came out with when he got back to England from Germany  :grinning:  it was pretty awful to be fair

KK was the poster boy of his era, we were VERY fortunate to find Kenny who maintained our progress into European heavyweights. Apparently we considered Trevor Francis (considered too injury-prone) and Liam Brady.

Looks like this transfer window's dead eh?

I'd probably go for Alonso, Arne has steadied the ship somewhat but we still look unconvincing, too many draws, he should be getting more of a tune out of the players at his disposal imo.
