Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Just reading the situation on our players contracts and we need to start doing something now.

2026.
Ibrahima Konate.
Andy Robertson.
Freddie Woodman.

2027.
Allison Becker.
Mo Salah.
Virgil Van Dijk.
Curtis Jones.
Harvey Elliot.
Joe Gomez.
WataruEndo.

2028.
Dominic Szobozlai.
Rio Ngomoha.
Alexis Mc Allister.
Ryan Gravenberch.
Federico Chiesa.

Robbos move to spurs is off so we lose a reported 5 mil. Konate goes for free which is a joke considering hes in his prime and it will probably cost between 50 to 70mil to replace him.

There is a few heading into their last year which will be criminal if allowed to go for free. We cant let one of the best keepers in the game to walk away. Salah has value to the Saudis so cant let him sit it out either. Jones and Elliot are another two that have some value. Endo and Gomez should be moved on as well as not getting played if everyone is fit.

Then we have 3 starters heading into the last 2 years along with our brightest prospect. Too much money involved there to be kicking the contract can down the road.

All in all we need another big summer this year and some tough decisions need to be made. If its transition we are going through then it needs to be completed this summer.
Out with, Jones, Elliot, Gomez, Salah, Endo and Chiesa to start.  Cant give any of them a new deal. Try and extend Ali for another year and give Szob, Grav and Mac a timeframe that they have to sign by.

Looks like we've got Jeremy Jacquet over the line one day before the deadline. I dont know much about him tbh, I know us and Chelsea were both were competing for his signature. Hes a 6ft 2in French CB..

He'll join in June with the fee to be around £60m with £10m add ons.

Needed a Jacket now as it still bit nippy. So 60M for young CB for summer.

It does mean we have two very young lads that we're pinning a lot of hope on. Leoni to come back and who knows how that injury will impact him long term. He had very limited experience before that anyway. And now we've another nipper.
Either way, in another year I think VVD will become a liability. Who knows what Konate will decide. Gomez is made of glass.
It's concerning to say the least

It's a move in the right direction (although we needed him now tbh), but £60m for a kid that has played 20 games in the French league is crazy.

I’m sure there was something behind the scenes that was not reported. I cannot believe for a second that a deal falls through while his is in the LFC MRI machine then we don’t go after him in that next window. He might have told them to not bid for him as he was going to city who as it happened were not interested in him in the summer. My guess is we were never going to pay him 300k per week.

I remember United putting a ridiculous bid in [50m something like that iirc] for Bellingham when he was a 16 year old at Birmingham and no one had ever heard of him, i don't even think he'd played a game for them yet, everyone on the outside fans etc thought United had lost the plot but people inside the game know and by all accounts this french lad we've bought is a similar generational talent, people in france reckon he's better than Saliba was at that age.
To be fair the lad is a natural athlete, one of those lads who'd be good at any sport, he's not just tall and quick and strong, he coordinated, he has got natural spring, has got great timing in terms of the timing his jumps and his tackles...he's just a natural athlete.
Obviously he's still young and he's still learning his trade and maybe the chance to train and play alongside and learn from Virgil for a year or two was a factor in him picking us but i've just got a sneaking suspicion that this signing might just turn out to be a lot more significant than we realise atm. We may have just signed the future.

I just hope he’s not another Naby Keita. Similar price and similar conditions. I don’t like paying so much for a player that you then loan back. Curious how this changes the Konate situation?

I think it was in the Times that the whole City 5.1/2 year deal would cost £80+ million which Liverpool walked away from. Understandable but as usual shows the clubs have lost control of the game.

A lot of rumours of Alonso and his team being a done deal for this summer.

*IF* it's Xabi, or whoever it is, he has a big big job to do. And I think Mo leaving won't be the only one either.
I think we might see VVD decide he's not up for a back to heavy metal style game, the way Xabi had Leverkusen playing. Forget about RM, he was always on a hiding to nothing there. He was never going to get them to listen to him. Too many divas.
This summer, we could well be saying goodbye to Gakpo, Chiesa, maybe Jones, Macca, I think there's a lot of noise about Szobo that I don't like hearing... And possibly more.
I do think the money we spent last year and the signings were made, in particular Isak, were not great. Or maybe it's that the managers style is just not suited to them. Either way, we're weak at the back, we're not great on either wing, we don't have a great spine or a real enforcer. Lots to do over the summer.

Slot's brain fart this season has probably sent us back 3 or 4 years so it's going to be a rebuild I'm sure. Alonso or whoever will need to almost start from scratch due to some older players heading for the exit (Salah, VVD) and some not up to scratch players being found out (Gakpo). we've got the bare bones with the new signings, Isak probably the least tried out this season due to his injury. Who knows, new manager might just have some ideas up his sleeve to get a tune out of Kerkez/Frimpong and co
