It will take him time to settle, some players can make an impact instantly but with Wirtz we might not see the best of him yet.
100+ mill price tag doesn't help either I guess.

I think he is a hugely talented player but I think his slighter frame is having trouble with the intensity of the PL. By all accounts he’s an intelligent player so you’d bet on him making the adjustments needed. Not to say he’s been bad, he just hasn’t shown that quality that when you look at him you know he has. Had we bought him for 30m then no one would be talking about him now, he’s still young after all.

Where does he play for Germany?

On formations it shows his out wide part of from 3.

From what I saw he seems to roam

Just hoping with Wirtz it's a case of figuring out where his best position in. I remember when we bought Firmino we were unsure where his best position was. Then Klopp figured out the false 9 role uptop.

When Wirtz came he said it was because Slot had laid out how he wanted him to play, the player he wanted him to be and how the team would accommodate him. I’d love to actually hear what Slot actually planned for him and how he sees him best helping the team. Did buying both Ekitike and Isak change Wirtz’s role?

I don't think there'a much to figure out about his position, IMO he's only good as an AM and that's that. He'a not good as a winger and neither good nor useful to us as a False No.9 since we already have two proper Number 9s that are occupying that position. The way I see it either he works out as an AM or not at all.

I just can’t imagine Slot saying “come to Liverpool and I’ll play you in a midfield 3”. He must have sold another role to him and in which case what was it? He certainly runs a lot and has a great engine but was the physicality a surprise to him?

My response was more towards redshade's comment about finding Florian's best position on the field, but IMO there's not much to figure out with that, he's best as an attacking midfielder. What might change is the formation but personally I wouldn't change our formation unless it suits the whole team, not just to accomodate one player.

As to what Slot has said to him about his role my guess is as good as yours mate. But for sure he's finding it hard to get used to the physicality and intesity of the league but also to his new teammates, they're clearly not on the same wavelength yet.

He certainly fits our profile of being talented, grounded, a heathy family behind him, not a party animal and no ego. He also strikes me as a player that will get better with our supporters singing his name.

He set another couple up to Salah yesterday, but Mo just isnt at the races this season. I'd stick with him, he's certainly not the problem!! The 2 playing behind him are not doing enough imo. Mac allister is unfit and Gravenberch has become too lightweight in there. We need a duel winner in that position, a player like Tonali who will fight for the shirt. Hendo/Fab/Milner and Gini all were technical players, but all fought every game and won most of their duels.. we are losing everyone this season.

Wirtz has my sympathy at the moment, time and again he's put in some lovely passes to create chances for Salah and other team mates and yet when the opportunity is there for them to  return the favour they ignore him completely. Against Madrid, Salah's failure to square the ball to and unmarked Florian inside the box was bordering on criminal , christ only knows what must go through Florians head when team mates seemingly either don't see him or just choose to ignore him.

I’m actually looking forward to Salah going to AFCON so we can really see what we bought in the summer. Apparently he could miss a lot of games.
