So can Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic, Sterling and Ibe. I know that BR loves this type of players but it won't do us much good if we have a whole bunch of them. As I said, Frimino is a good player but we need strengthening elsewhere.

Frimino will never come to us anyway, we're probably not even interested in him. Hoffenheim probably released the story so they could get more money from Man Utd.

The difference is Firmino is more than comfortable as a striker - the others aren't ( bar Sterling who is leaving )

If the price is the reported £13-15mil then it's worth getting involved

Firminio is similar in style to Coutinho, he is certainly not the answer to our midfield problems but I'd love to see him here all the same.
Man United have been linked with him for ages though and if we have just joined the race now after failing to land Kovacic in the hope of usurping United then it will be a repeat of the Depay scenario I'm afraid. The only way we are getting him is if United have backed out.

We just love a sexy midfielder in the progressive bracket and that's pure finance given they aren't as expensive as centre forwards
but do command big transfer fees if you can turn them into an elite performer.

The club will just load up on them for financial reasons only and leave us short of high quality strikers because of it.

Exactly, before you know it, BR will buy another midfielder to give Mingolet some competition for the GK position. In fact, midfielders is all LFC will have. New formation = 1-10-0

Really, ok then. You mean the 'world class' player BR mentioned that was plying his trade in France until recently. And what has happened to Lambert and Balo etc, oh that's right, BR doesn't fancy them. That was money well spent wasn't it. So when LFC need quality, he buy's Ings............and yet, he still want's more midfielders. When will he give the youngsters at the club a chance (without the Owners telling him to make use of those players, yes they did tell him this after wasting millions) , oh that's right, he doesn't think they are good enough and brings in overseas players that are no better then what is already at the club. Clever man is BR...........

Re Kovacic - it wouldn't surprise me if the club thought CM is sorted.
We aren't giving Milner Gerrard type money to sit on the bench and Hendo has just signed a new big money deal too.
By all accounts Joe Allen is on the verge of being offered a new contract as well.
If we start the season with those 3 as our CM unit that is probably our worst midfield since our second division days.

Reports that we are back in for Yonoplanyka again - would be a good signing

Besiktas wants Balotelli to replace Ba who is supposedly on his way back to the Prem

I think you're getting your Yarmalenko's and Konoplyanka's mixed up there Ben  :D
Konoplyanka is a good player who will deffo improve us, he is exactly the type of player we should be signing. If we could somehow get the likes of Kovacic and Yarmalenko as well we could really do some damage next season.

Don't particularly rate Konoplyanka. Yes very fast and good shot on him and seeing as no fee is involved maybe he is worth a punt but I've watched him quite a bit since we were after him and always left a bit disappointed.

One of those guys who will skin defenders/score a cracking goal now and again and look good but it doesn't happen enough with him and a lot of the time ive been left wondering what the fuss is about.

Yarmalenko on the other hand is one that has something special about him

Apparently Tony Evans has said that we are not in for Kovacic  :(
He also reckons that Brendan has still got his heart set on a target man type and we are looking at Llorente as a cheaper alternative to Benteke, we haven't completely ruled out going for Benteke though.
We've been linked to Carlos Bacca in one or two of the sunday papers as well, not that keen on him, saw him miss an absolute sitter once and I know all strikers miss them but this was an unbelievable miss.
Gutted over Kovacic, I know Evans might be wrong but he's normally quite reliable and the Echo journo's are saying the same.
I can't understand why we are paying a 30 year old £150,000 a week to play in the heart of our midfield when that money could have went towards signing a real quality player like Kovacic. Considering the size of us (Forbes have us down as the 8th richest club in the world and 1 of the 'big 6' truly massive clubs) we set our sights in the transfer market way too low.
