Yeah, (without being privy to the actual conversation) avoid embarrassment and don't make an offer for a run of the mill player unless the agent (who surely know's his clients desire) is 99% certain his client would be interested   

How would the agent know if the player is interested until he has heard the offer ?

All that's in the news is that he turned us down - at what stage he turned us down is unknown - did we even offer a contract ?

And certainly no embrassment if a player turns us down - it's just part and parcel of football. All seems a non issue really , he won't be the first player to turn us down and won't be the last

I call ***** on his statement anyway. Why on earth would we be interested in him? We might have been interested in him at some point (a few seasons ago), but he's been average at best everywhere he's been ever since he left Palermo (when he was a hot young prospect). I think the c*nt is just bitter he never got to sign for us.

Frimino can't be an alternative to Kovacic, Frimino is not a central midfielder. Good player but we already have enough players in his position.

Firmino can play either as a second striker supporting or an attacking midfielder - the sort of role that Gerrard played for us a number of times.

Goals from midfield is an area we need to strengthen
