You should be, cos next season Liverpool are going to be struggling to get to fourth, the way things are going.

Yes you have to wonder whether the main motivation of last season was to repay us or put himself in the shop window for Real or Barca after previous season hijinks

Mind you that theory goes out the window with Italian World cup snack or just proves he is bat crazy

Ill never understand how he managed to behave himself for a whole season.

Well all I can say is Barca have fun with him, pr department will have to work overtime to manage their new boy.

Guillem Balague on sky sports news tv this morning....

Negotiations are continuing between Liverpool and Barcelona over the transfer of Luis Suarez.

Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague expects the deal to be completed in the next few days.

Barca are reportedly willing to pay £75m for the controversial Uruguay striker, who is currently serving a four-month ban following his latest biting incident during the World Cup.

In Barcelona ‘Suarez 9’ shirts have already gone on sale in sports shop Futbol Mania. Liverpool and Arsenal target Alexis Sanchez currently wears the number nine shirt.

Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague expects the Luis Suarez deal to be completed in the next few days.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Balague said: "It's quite clear that Barcelona and Luis Suarez are on the same wavelength.

"Liverpool have given up on him and the figure that Barcelona need to pay has been reported at round £70m to £80m. In any case, that is as much as Liverpool wanted.

"There seems to be an early payment of 40m euros which Barcelona is waiting for the sale of Alexis Sanchez to be able to say 'here is the money'.

"But, in any case, it is going to happen and Luis Saurez's family expects it to be confirmed by the end of this week."

Oh well. There we go.
Brace yourselves lads. I think next season might be a bit of a disappointment after the last one. I just hope we don't screw up the transfer window this time.

I've heard so much garbage spouted in the last few days that we might be in the same position that Spurs were last summer.

There's no similarity at all. We don't have a DOF signing players over the managers head, the majority of which are very similar.

We also have a better manager and a plan.

Arsenal will confirm in the next few hours that they have signed Sanchez, who in my mind will become a monster of a player in this league, behind only Aguero and Yaya Toure.

Their actual talent is starting to look frightening Ozil (who will improve from last season), Cazorla, Ramsey, Sanchez are all top top players. Then you have a supporting cast of Podolski, Giroud, Wilshire, Arteta, Walcott and Oxlande-Chamberlain. Compare that to our bench and it's world's apart.  :glare:

Lallana is a step in the right direction but this Lazar Markovic kid is a massive risk we are taking spending 20m for an unproven 20yo. Surely the 20m can be put to an established player? We need to stop this scatter gun "hot prospects" approach and start buying immediate reinforcements for our starting XI. Rodgers and our recruiting team don't seem to be learning from this as we are being linked with this other 19yo Belgium kid Origi, which is very concerning.

In my mind now, I would keep Suarez based on the fact that we are having trouble getting established talent through the door. Because if we sell him for 75m I shudder to think how this money will be wasted.

Yeah we are going to win the CL with Lambert, Aspas and Borini. Oh but wait we have Origi to look forward to so all is saved!

Headlines on the back of today's echo say that we have lost out to Arsenal in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez, the club spoke to Sanchez and his representatives but the Chilean was adamant that he wanted to move to London. Liverpool have admitted defeat and are moving on to other targets.
Tony Barrett is saying the same thing in the Times.
Re Suarez the structure of the payments to Barcelona have been agreed and the deal is expected to be completed within the next couple of days.
Bit of a double blow that, never mind, at least we have got money to spend.

With regards to the imminent departure of LS, here's my thoughts. Liverpool are still a club that is rebuilding and BR said that in his first interview 2 years ago that this was a long term project. Why would someone like Suarez who is arguably the 3rd or 2nd best player in the world and at his prime want to stay at a club that is still rebuilding and buying unproven youngsters (Origi, Can, Markovic and very likely more to come) plus a veteran striker at the twilight of his career? It doesn't make sense to stay on. Plus Liverpool can never be assured of CL football every season. As a fan, I am naturally sad and disappointed to see him go, but for his career advancement, it would be best for him to leave for Barca where it is the pinnacle side for every fooballer and CL football every season can virtually be taken for granted.

IMHO, BR has over achieved last season. No one I am sure expected us to be so close in winning the league. And on the field, it was all down to one star man. Yes, we were a one man team to put it bluntly. No one can dispute that because half the goals we scored were either scored or assisted by him. Now that he's gone, it is a cause for concern indeed. If he were still with us next season and with the signings we've made and the ones BR will be signing, I would be very confident of us winning it next term. But without Suarez, it is a scary prospect. I will be more than happy for us to finish 3rd ie automatic CL qualification and let the long term project of Brendan and FSG perpetuates on......
