He said himself that he struggled to cope with the 10 game ban after biting Ivanovic so he'll surely be on his best behaviour knowing that he's drinking at the last chance saloon.
This may be a huge story now but let's face it once the grind of the new season starts and new incidents and controversial decisions start popping up on a weekly basis it will be forgotten, today's news is tomorrow's fish and chip paper and who was thinking about the Ivanovic bite or even the Evra incident when we were smashing the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Spurs 4 and 5 nil with Luis leading from the front.
He obviously needs help because he's got a screw lose but throughout footballing history a lot of maverick players (Maradona, Best, Cantona etc) have been the same. I'm sure once he gets back here and Brendan and Steve Peters get to work on him he'll be okay.

I can't say I agree with the 'it will be forgotten' bit, he's going to a hell of lot of stick from both media and opposition fans well into next season, the thought of that may push towards wanting to leave

his lawyer and the head of the uruguayan FA would have presented his defence by now so hopefully this will be sorted by the end of the day. from what i read he could have room to appeal any ban so he might still play in the W.C.
i also hope that brendan has been in touch with him offering his support and the clubs. i dont think the club should make any statements about it either unless a ban affects us. when he got banned for ivanovich no one was rushing to get a statement from tabarez so i dont think rodgers should publicly get drawn into this.
no doubt this story has grabbed worldwide attention due to the nature of the incident and the profile of the tournament but most of the media outlets running this aren't dragging the name of LFC through the gutter, its the british media thats doing that. if he was a napoli player or something you wouldnt hear f-all about it  :nod

Exactly. The British media and their sheep are making a mountain out of a mole hill as usual and making him out to be worse than rapist or child abuser. When the reality is he's not worse than the likes of Keane, cantona, de jong or shearer but because they are media darlings its perfectly acceptable despite the fact they were also more than multiple offenders.

Quite simply Luis behaved like a little child, he's done it before and may well do it again. Big ***** deal. He gives his all every time he pulls on the shirt so if he occasionally gets sent off for serious foul play, which that is all it is.... Then I couldn't give a f*ck what the drones, Tory boys and idealistic bellends who've never lived a day in the real world think

Charge, which quite frankly was a complete joke into this and comparing a little bite which doesn't even draw blood to murder? Are you actually for real? The way you are carryin on you would think he'd had sex with a child or assaulted a fan or ended someone's career or deliberately missed a drug test or slept with Sh*t loads of prozys.... Oh wait... No, he's nipped someone and not even drew blood....

Gerrard has threw in five or six leg breakers in his career, also been done for assault. an odd little bite on someone that does NO HARM what so ever. Get a sense of f*cking perspective for Christ sake.

Like intelligent people have already said.... What would any footballer rather face? A nibble or de jong assaulting players every chance he gets?

Its alright to break someone's leg, but if you spit at someone or bite them you're lower than low. I WILL SAY IT ONCE MORE. PERSPECTIVE!

Love the "doesn't even draw blood" arguement  I guess their are a lot things one can do on the pitch without drawing blood ,poke in the eye ,grabbing some dude's junk...It's about fair play that's the issue here.
But we are going on in circles. Biting has no relevance to the game (even if it's marginal) ,breaking someone's leg is unfortunately part of the nature/mechanics of the game.

Leaving the ground and being out of control and going in too break someone's leg is no more a part of the game as sitting down in the centre circle to have a steak dinner.

You have obviously never played the game at any level.

From a players respective I would much rather face what Suarez done than what shearer done in his career or Keane or savage or mills or any of the other Muppets with these opinions. You have absolutely no grip on context or real life.

In what ***** way was de jongs karate kick on Alonso in the final years ago less of a crime or "part of the game"? I tell ya now, if Luis bit me I wouldn't know how to react, if de jong done that to me I'd have got up and hospitalised the c*nt.

You live in your pathetic Little world were the media influence everything you say and a small child's tooth mark can be compared to murder... It sounds like a great place

actually i live in a world where Suarez was banned for 10 games for Biting and is about to be thrown out of the worldcup at the minimum....While you Stu the "Professional Football Player" continue playing with yourself .(which i admit is pretty enjoyable)....I guess you would also rather have a defender finger you then getting a De Jong Karate your leg...

Deary me, why are you blaming the media?

Suarez is the one to blame, maybe if he didn't go around biting players he wouldn't get all this attention, get it?
You keep referencing other offences, why? I couldn't care less what any other player does but it really hacks me off when our club gets dragged through the mud even more.
What has happened to his respect to us and the club?

Your may do it again comment is laughable - you really think an LFC player should be doing this, risking a lengthy club ban in the process? He has let himself, our manager, the fans and club down.

According to you and the media.

The reason I made reference to your obvious influence is because it is them that drag Liverpools  name through the mud at every turn regardless of the club involvement or not. Do you actually think to yourself when a player from another club does something stupid like assault someone that "drags the clubs name through the mud"?? ???

Most genuine Liverpool fans (regular posters, match goers, locals and real supporters, and even people who regularly discus the club) a. You can see are pretty much all of the same opinion and aren't really that bothered... We are more bothered about what the fa or FIFA will do affecting us, not what some bellend who writes a newspaper thinks. I find it laughable that soon as one of ours makes an error in judgement, be it the first time or not that all of a sudden people who never discus our club flock to forums to vent their discust. So much so I smell a rat. Ive been on here ten years and this is the only topic ive ever noticed you post in.... Says a lot:

Wow that ban is a whopper.

4 month ban from ALL football, including a stadium ban.

They mentioned all footballing activity, including administrative, what isn't clear is whether he can train with the club or not?

update: His first eligible game back is against Newcastle November 1st.
