Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Sun Aug 04, 2013 1:29 pm

the PR campaign has started i see, get a few legends to come out in the press and say we are better off without him etc
as i said the signs arent good here, reina reckons he`s off (he still must talk to the players, he trained with them practically every day over the last 8 years) and wenger said in his press conference that he wont discuss the suarez situation because liverpool have asked him to keep any negotiations confidential.
rodgers has said they dont want any players that arent 100% committed to the club and on top of that we are seriously linked with a £20m+ striker.
wouldnt surprise me if we were just stalling for time hoping that madrid or some other foreign outfit come in for him.
it wouldnt bother me if we sold him abroad, it`s just that i was hoping for a better replacement than costa.

A lot of speculation everywhere that he will go to the Arsew1pes. On Talksport, one of the presenters (Charlie ?), kept saying that LS will go to them. Was really getting on my nerves......

Anyway, he will not be sold to the Arsew1pes. We all know that Wenger is playing games, and he will come back this week with a bid of around £42m, and again during the last week of the Transfer Window.....to try and throw LFC's plans off track-  It's all plain to see, and it will not work.

Moreover, IMO. this situation will enhance and unify the team, why?, well, the whole saga will have rattled everyone at the club, (especially the players)and they know that a similar situation could arise with any Team Member. As a result, I believe, each player will play out of their skin and get to where we need to be, that is, Top 4 and CL, it will happen this coming season.

I love all this ' a close friend of Suarez has stated ' because loosely translated it means 'we have nowhere to go with this story'  :D
Rodgers (tongue firmly in cheek) has stated that it would take a bid the size of Bales to even entice the reds ,and the media don't
like it ,Wenger cant understand it ,all this and the world of football is completely dumbstruck at the reception the supporters gave Luis
at Anfield...... Just another wonderful day supporting a club that does things so differently it scares the bejeezus out of normal
folk.

Its like they're running around frantically listening to anyone with any past association with Liverpool ,I mean fecking Comolli
has just been waiting patiently to stick his knife into the reds ,so its no surprise his appraisal of Liverpool is not exactly full

yeah maybe so mate, also i wasnt too keen to hear wenger in his post match press conference say he was refusing to discuss the suarez situation because he wanted to honour liverpools wish to keep any discussions confidential, he said he wanted to keep the whole thing amicable. hope we arent saying one thing in public and something else behind the scene`s.[/quote]

Nah, Wenger is playing games. 'honour liverpool's wish to keep any discussions confidential',   any club would. However, Wenger is trying to play the brain game, like Whisky Nose.

Anyway, the hierarchy at Anfield, yes they want to make money, but they are not that naive to sell such a player like Suarez to a direct domestic rival, as they know they'd face the wrath of all the fans everywhere. And a lot more besides....He is staying at Anfield.

I heard the interview, it was b0ll0cks. basically saying that if GB goes to RM, then Totsh1te's main target would be LS, however, totsh1te would not be able to complete with the wage demands et al, but Arsew1pe could......They are indeed asking everyone and their dog. It'll be Frank McGarvey next

Yeah I know. Think he only lasted one season (from what I remember), then went to Celtic or was it back to St Mirren?

Anyway. I think, we get into the CL, Suarez, then stays with us for more seasons, unless RM, Barca or Bayern come in....

Think Suarez may have played his cards too early anticipating interest from Madrid and making noises
only to be left with a bid from Arsenal a club who will not pay top dollar.

You never know with football but he may still get his way if Madrid can off load another body to finance
the deal or Chelsea enter the bidding which wouldn't surprise me, anything is possible.

Naturally Liverpool are publicly saying no sale and holding up the Bale deal as a marker figure but in reality
a bid of around £55m will go close to buying him from any club but I hope that does not happen because
with him and additions like Costa I think we should have expectations of a decent shot at 4th next year.

http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soccer/english-soccer/rodgers-surprised-by-arsenal-s-suarez-bid-1.1484559?

Brendan Rodgers has accused Arsenal of lacking class with their attempt to activate a disputed clause in Luis Suarez’s contract by one English pound.
Suarez was the only member of Liverpool’s first-team squad not to attend a testimonial dinner for Steven Gerrard on Saturday, having earlier received a warm reception from the Anfield crowd during a 2-0 friendly defeat of Olympiakos. The gala dinner at ACC Liverpool was part of the captain’s efforts to raise more than £1 million for his charitable foundation.
Suarez and his representatives believe the 26-year-old should be allowed to open talks with Arsenal after they offered £40,000,001 a fortnight ago.

Rival interest
Liverpool insist a bid over £40 million entitles Suarez to be informed of rival interest and for the club to enter negotiations if they wish but nothing more.
And Rodgers has described the sum offered as disrespectful as he reiterated Liverpool’s intention to hold the Uruguay international to a further 12 months of a contract that has three years remaining.
“I was surprised,” said the Liverpool manager of Arsenal’s second bid for Suarez.
“I’ve got to say I’ve always associated Arsenal as a club with class and so there was a wee bit of a game there
. For us, it’s about moving on and doing our own work. There will come a point where they understand our position.”
Suarez has told Liverpool he wishes to join a club in the Champions League, having previously claimed he wanted to leave England. Rodgers insists the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, are not looking to cash in on the forward.

‘Extremely confident’
Rodgers, who spoke to the principal owner, John W Henry, about Suarez on Friday, said: “I’m extremely confident that Luis will be here [next season].
“The offers have come in as you would expect for one of the world’s leading strikers but as time goes by I’m gaining more confidence because I have a chance to be with him on a day-to-day basis and he gets the chance to be around his team-mates. We’re in total control of the situation.

“The owners have been brilliant. If it was another club needing the money or desperate for the money it could have been a different story. But John Henry and Tom [Werner, the chairman] have been first class through the whole process, so there are no arguments there and it gives you the confidence they are not in any hurry to sell because they understand we are trying to build here.”
Rodgers refused to divulge details of his conversations with Suarez since the club rejected Arsenal’s offer, while admitting all players have their price and that Real Madrid’s world record offer for Gareth Bale exposed the weakness of Arsenal’s move for Suarez.

‘Wonderful player’
He said: “Gareth Bale is a wonderful player and if they are prepared to pay that money, that’s where he is, but there is no way he is 100 per cent better than Luis Suarez.
“But it’s not something we want to entertain this year. We understand it could be different next summer. A player with two years left on his contract is totally different but Luis has three and we want to bring people in to play around and with him so we can sustain a challenge this year.”
Arsene Wenger, for his part, feels Arsenal have acted with respect and class . “We try to do it properly,” the manager said yesterday. “A transfer is always an agreement between three parties and we have always done that until now.”
Liverpool’s attempts to get players in include a €25 million bid for Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid and they are hopeful the Brazilian striker will this week inform the Spanish club he wants the move.
