Mate, forget "persuade".

I'd tell Suarez he's still got three years on his contract and we've got no intention of selling him this season, but we will listen to offers if he's still adamant he wants to leave next summer".

Christ, doesn't this fella realise that if he helps get us back into the top four and sticks around he could become a legend at lfc.

They want it now though modern footballers - he has already gone two seasons without CL and they don't have the paitence to wait for another season to try and get into the CL when the possibility is slim. If the player was someone more connected to the club then possibly we could get a one or two more seasons. Their career is short and want to maximise their success.

Hell of a way for Luis to let the owners know what they need to do to keep him. If we sold him to Arsenal season tickets would be getting binned along with the Suarez shirts !! Surely that has got be just a load of *****? I still haven't forgiven those stupid fkrs for selling Van Persie to United !!! Arsenal were so close to missing out on CL that the money gained for Van Persie would have been immediately lost.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

if we sell our best player to one of our direct rivals for that 4th CL place it will go down like a lead balloon here in liverpool.
if they have to sell him then sell him abroad.

I agree with Rodgers that he would want 55M for LS. But Brendan is smart, he knew Arsenal most probably wouldn't want to pay that huge sum of money. For me, if LS wants to go that badly, I wouldn't mind selling him to RM for 40M, but in the event that he goes to Arsenal or any PL side, I would want us squeeze as much from them as possible, preferably 60M. The only good thing out of the Evra incident is that there is no way he's going to manure, otherwise I am sure they will submit a bid for him.

Really wish Monaco or PSG were after him... anyway yeah I think 55Mil is the minimum. In fact given the 80Mil figures that were being banded about for Bale I think the minimum for Suarez should be 65/70. Don't want him to sign for another English club though.

Ignore the price tag for Bale - we all know that is stupidly inflated - look at what Cavani and Falcao went for then take away about 10 mil because of his obvious problems and that's the sort of price people will pay.

Well, the thing is Monaco and PSG has already got their strikers in Falcao and Cavani. There just isn't anyone abroad left that would spunk out the money.
Real won't, neither will Barca. No italian team could afford him. Only City, Chelski and ***** left.
City already bought Negredo and Jovetic so they are highly unlikely. Chelski has gone out and said Rooney is their only target.
Which leaves only cheapskate Arsenal. So either we force him to stay or we let him leave on the cheap as Arsenal never pays premium.

But if he stays I don't want to hear deluded fans going on about how everything was a misunderstanding and Suarez really does love the club etc. **** that!
I'll be happy when he scores but he'll always be a rotten mercenary from now on, nothing more.

All footballers esp. the world class ones are in fact mercenaries. If they feel they're bigger than their clubs, they all won't hesitate to jump ship. We all have to get used to it. Whenever they sign for a club, they'll always say the club is a big club, world famous, great fans, they've been a Liverpool supporter since young etc etc. It would be naive to believe that BS. The truth is, they are here for the insane weekly wages, glories, CL football and winning trophies and nothing else. If any club cannot provide those opportunities, there's no way in the world can they get star players, even if they can get him, he won't be here for long. Liverpool at the moment despite our rich history is no longer a world super football power.

Man City seemed to have proven that moneyball owners does work. 12 seasons ago they were relegated. When Thaksin was the owner, they were deeply rooted at mid table. Now with oil rich owners, they are miles ahead of Liverpool. Through their owners, they've bought their way to winning the CL. I know many fans here are against sugar daddy owners, but how many times have City and Chelsea combined won the PL in the last decade and how many times have Liverpool won it in last 2 decades?

When did Man City win the CL ? Did you mean PL ? Just how successful have City been for spending well over £500m ? One league title on goal difference and one FA Cup isn't overly impressive. Considering what they have spent they were a very average team for a lot of last season. I know what you are saying but it is a very sad way to go. Rich boys in the Candy Store don't do it for me.

Considering where they were 10 years ago their rise has been impressive, and they have a team that really can compete in all competitions.
Yes its sad the way money dominates football, but in some ways it always have. The big clubs always take the best players from smaller clubs. Sadly we as fans have let the clubs drive the sport in this direction where money is the most important element for success. Somehow I dont think we will complain too much if we get back to the top and can do the same to other clubs again.

Spot on. But you have no idea how many deluded fans that are out there with this insane hero worship.
Suarez is one of us.
Suarez will always love the club
Suarez scoring goals for us means he loves it here.
Blah, blah, blah
Since he was so flattered being linked with Arsenal says to me he will do anything to just move one small peg up the order.
But fans just loves those rose tinted glasses...  :no

Developing an affinity for a club and it's players no matter how deluded your passion may be is what imo makes you a supporter. Without it why bother even following a particular club ? you may as well say I like football and dispassionately watch any team, perhaps enjoying the spectacle without the rose tinted glasses but with little emotion.
