Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I think SCS is mainly talking about players buying themselves out of a contract.

Yes players do force through moves - Tevez tried last season but City stood firm.

If players want to leave then they put in Transfer requests and then they only leave when a club pays the required fee.

john thompson is the head of sport at the echo, he doesnt comment often but when he does its usually on big stories or serious issue`s (like hillsborough)

There's no doubt about it we need another 12 months out of LS to gell the new lads into an attacking formation, consolidate Sturridge and Coutinho into the side and club so they won't wobble when he leaves and also, it make that lunge for CL football so should he leave at least we'll have something to offer a replacement. Otherwise I'd happily sell LS for 40m and pick up Shrek for 20 million + a good CB.

I'd be thrilled if we held onto Suarez.  My one concern is that I don't think he'll be able to have another season like he's had.  He could be better, but he'll probably be demotivated that he couldn't move away.  Maybe it will make him play better, maybe worse.  If worse, we may only get 20-25 for him next summer, instead of 40-50 this summer.

Nothing like the motivation to ensure a transfer happens. He could have done better last season, in no way was it a perfect season. In fact the start of the season he didn't really show up until the Norwich game, in which he scored a hat-trick. He could have scored more goals and he could of ironed out the stupid antics that ironically (or fortunately for us) preventing him finishing with the golden boot. I'm sure, a superficial as it is, the golden boot would have raised his profile in the transfer market.

Mixed feelings on Suarez.
Great player, the sort we need to to progress but he has to cut out the silly stuff.
Wouldn't be that gutted if we got a good price and bought a couple of quality players in.

all quiet on the transfer front
these windows are way too long. uefa or whoever the power may be should seriously consider shortening it to 1 month. that way it finishes up pretty much before all leagues start and no player can jump ship at the last minute.
i think we have pretty much signed all our targets now so any new signings will depend on exits and they could drag out. a bit surprised that we havent sorted out the defence yet either as it was surely top of the list to be addressed.

BR said he wants 2 more signings before the window shuts, I'll take his word for that. Expect 2 more signings sometime soon.

Strong rumours (twitter based of course, but from journos) of Mkhitaryan agreeing terms with Dortmund and a deal being close.  Reported in the Bild newspaper.

If true I hope we have a plan B, as in alternative not the slightly overweight rapper/actor.

That took me all of a few minutes to get. 'Plan B' must be a rapper -- fears of the alternative being a kind of Babel MKII averted.

It's kinda dumb.  They do it so clubs can make adjustments based on the first few games, or if there's injuries are anything.  But then it screws a lot of clubs whose players end up going right at the end to a club who decides they need them.  The Carroll situation either happens where a club is forced to spend big on a player who isn't worth it, or the club is stuck with nobody.

No need to waste money when we already have a promising youth.

@JamesPearceEcho: #LFC have admitted defeat in their bid to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Shakhtar have informed them he's on the brink of signing for Dortmund.

I wonder if our interest in Eriksen will resurface?

Things aren't looking good, especially if (when?) Suarez goes...
