You miss the point, Liverpool are demonstrating its a buyers market not a sellers, we don't need to splash out, there are few alternative buyers.

I know its early days but we dont seem to be acting like a club on a mission to break into the top 4 next season.

If you mean Papadopoulos, then i'm not that disappointed. Schalke want 20 million and that's too much to spend on a player who's just got over a major injury

gerrards in todays echo saying it`s time for some of our young players to step up to the plate and become good prem players, dont like the sounds of that, doesnt exactly fill me with hope that we are going to splash out on marquee players.
also molby in his column reckons that reina and suarez wont be here next season.
if we sell suarez i hope the club brings in a suitable replacement and doesnt just pocket the cash.

Not too sure what to make of our signings so far. I really do think Reina will be off with us getting Mignolet. Neither will be prepared to play second fiddle in a world cup year and I suspect Reina has been lined up for a move.

Toure on a free looks a sound bit of business on the face of it as we do need to reinforce our centre backs but I don't think he is the leader/organiser that we need now Carra has gone and that does worry me as I don't think Agger or Skrtel are those kind of players either.

From what I've seen of Aspas, he looks a decent addition to the squad however I think we need players who will improve the team rather the squad and not entirely convinced this fella will do that although I would love to be proved wrong.

With Alberto being quite young, not too sure what to expect from him seeing as he has played in the lower tier of spanish football. Could prove to be a shrewd signing. One thing with both Aspas and Alberto they both seem to be quite flexible as to where they can play so maybe provides BR some more options as to how to setup and play.

I really do hope Suarez stays as he would be a huge loss and there's not too many out there who could replace him. However if he does go, it needs to be done as early on as possible to allow us plenty of time to bring in the right players with the money. What I don't want is us scrambling around looking for players towards the end of the window. I actually think we know Luis will be off and may have some players lined up for that eventuality.

Looking at our competitors for 4th, mainly Arsenal and Tottenham, they seem to be going for some pretty high standard of players. Look's like Higuain could well be on his way to Arsenal and that would really be a huge signing for them while Spurs have signed Paulinho, who looks top quality to and was very good in the confeds cup. Just a tad concerned they will push ahead with those kind of signings. However, saying that the window is not over yet so can only really make a judgement on our business compared to others when it does close

Both City and Spurs have bought proven quality international players so far, Chelsea have also made a couple of quality buys. The clubs above us are buying not reducing wage bills.

Cheer up matey  :grinning: . I'm really going to wait until the end of the window to make a real judgement on our business this window but so far not getting that real sense of excitement from our signings so far. However, who knows, sometimes you can pick up gems that are not household names. Doubt many people were fimiliar with Michu this time last year and look what a signing his proven to be for Swansea. What's to say Aspas and Alberto don't make that impact for us this season. Sure we have done our homework on these guys and lets hope they do the business for us

Sadly, both City and Chelsea operate at a totally different playing field when it comes to signing players so I try not to compare ourselves to them. Utd are also on a different level but just not as high as City/Chelsea.

My concern is when the likes of Arsenal and Spurs are bringing in a higher standard of player than we are. As mentioned earlier, Arsenal look to be on the verge of signing Higuain who is absolute top quality. Spurs go out and sign Paulinho, who looked mighty impressive in the confeds cup and thought looked right at home in the final against probably the best midfield around. even though they missed out on CL. This is where the issue lies. I'm not going to make a real judgement until the window closes but so far I'm underwhelmed.

I think our signings under BR have been a bit hit and miss. On one hand, Coutinho and Sturridge have been real quality and look like bargains for the amounts paid. However then we have the likes of Allen (think we seriously had our pants pulled down with the price we paid considering someone like Dembele went to spurs for the same amount) and Borini.  I know both have had injury issues but overall I've have been underwhelmed at what I've seen so far from them

Spot on Doeboy.

For the price of Aspas and Alberto , Spurs got Paulinho - I know which team has been improved.

Sky has reported we matched Dortmund's bid for Mkhtiryan, but his agent won't let him talk to us.

If we are just matching it, it makes me think Mkhtiryan wants to come here? Or we've increased his wages? Why would we only match if he prefers Dortmund?  And why the fook would his agent not let him talk to us? He make more off of him going to Dortmund?  Is this all just a complete load of bull Sh*t?

more than likely.
there is too much speculation and utter rubbish been floated by the media in terms of that transfer.
the shaktar chairman had claimed that the only club to have expressed an interest is dortmund and if the player was talking to a club it was through his agent and thats what i thought was going on.
we have had more than enough time to tie this deal up and for some reason we dragged our heels and lost out when it came to the crunch. maybe we where never interested or suarez has to go to fund it, but either way it was a good chance of a real marquee player.

I do start to worry that we are only in for marquee players on twitter and in reality only have the resources
available to buy young pups looking at us as a stepping stone to bigger things.

I know FSG wasted a ton of money under Dalglish, but if they are truly with Rodgers and genuinely want a
Champs league team we need a couple of top players in now to prove it, otherwise its another yankee bull
story to me.

norwich have signed the 24 year old dutch international ricky van wolfswinkel who has scored 25, 20 and 23 goals in his last 3 seasons in portugal and holland. they have also bought that england U21 player nathan redmond who is similar to that townsend who was on loan at QPR last season.
if they get alderweired as well they will have had a fantastic summer.
